Having had problems that it seemed were impossible to rectify I decided to remove the whole Geo Plugin to start over. I did this via SFTP to ensure that everything was cleanly deleted (although strangely the licence details remained intact!).

I then reinstalled the Geo Directory plugin and all the add on plugins and used the wizard to set the main location and then added my two additional cities.

I followed the instructions and found I had 3 cities duly recorded. The problem appeared when adding the Location Switcher to the Navigation Menu. When clearing the current location a “Location” blank page appears and clicking the list of cities fails to work.

If I have a city page open and try to Edit the page it defaults to the blank Location Page in the back-end and on opening the page again it defaults to a Location Page with no detail.

    An example:-
    https://gopuertoplata.com/location/dominican-republic/puerto-plata-province/puerto-plata/
    This correctly displays Puerto Plata.

An attempt to edit this page leads to:-
    https://gopuertoplata.com/wp-admin/post.php?post=257&action=edit&lang=en with a Permalink https://gopuertoplata.com/location/

    Clicking View Page Leads to:-
    https://gopuertoplata.com/location/

Instead of back to the original page.

The widget “Locations” set in the sidebar works correctly and clicking on any of the 3 Locations takes you to the appropriate page.

It seems to me that a “Locations Page” exists that should not be appearing on the front end of the site but needs to be available in case other cities need to be allocated.

Please advise how this can be rectified. I really do not want to have to uninstall and reinstall everything again!

I am using V2 on wp 5.2.1 with Supreme Directory Theme.

    Thanks

Removing all the files does not remove any data in the database.
But that does not seem to be your problem.

If I have a city page open and try to Edit the page it defaults to the blank Location Page in the back-end and on opening the page again it defaults to a Location Page with no detail.

That is because there is only one Location template that is used for all cities, regions and countries.
The content of those pages is controlled by the data you add at GD > Locations, not by creating duplicate WP pages.

    Hopefully that explains things better.
If there is anything in particular you want to edit on https://gopuertoplata.com/location/dominican-republic/puerto-plata-province/puerto-plata/ let us know, and we will tell you how.

    Thanks

I cannot recreate that on your site … and I cannot find any errors in your setup.
I only see the links to your location pages and the “Near me” page.
All work for me, first time and every time.

Do you mean “Near me” page: the:https://gopuertoplata.com/location/near/me/-27.3370404,152.8172008/

What is the link of the blank page? I cannot find a blank page when using any of the linked locations.

Well, I have the setting so that the home page should go to the city set as default (Current location page (ex: mysite.com/location/glasgow/).

That setting is for when visitors click on the logo of your site, which you have hidden. That setting has nothing to do with the “Change Location” menu item.

Please refer to my earlier comment: “I’ll get a developer to read your story too in case they have any idea what that behavior can be and how to fix it.” They will have a look and comment as soon they get to your issue.

Can you send a screenshot of the blank white box you get when click on one of the city names in the “Change Location”.

I do not understand why clicking the icon to remove the current location results in a blank Location Page appearing.

Is that page blank [as in a white page only], or not filtered for a particular location [showing listings of all locations]? If it is the second, then I am not sure what else you expect: if you remove the filter to show only one location, then what do you expect other than that it now will show all locations?
You can rename the title of the page if you want to change the word “Location” to something else like “All locations”, if that is what is what you are referring to.

    Thanks

My understanding is that if you click the “icon” You should see the words “change location” appear in Navigation replacing the name of the currently displayed location and then allowing you to select an alternative location by clicking the Navigation link. The words do change, as expected, but the visible page then changes to what I assume is the template itself with only a default image showing. The area map does appear below, however.

That is the start/home page for the directory, but not for your site.
It shows information about all the locations you have because you have asked not to only show one location by clearing the location in the switcher.
That is completely normal. Change the image and title on that page if you like.

The switcher box is asking you to start searching for a location, for example start typing any location you have. Does it still stay blank?

There is no page that lists all locations.
But the ../location/ page can show all your listings in all your locations.
