Hi, there seems to be some login issues which is leading to a lot of customer confusion. I have the newest version of the wpgeodirectory
So if someone registers here
http://whichweddingvenue.co.uk/register/
A browser seems to store the name as email, then when someone tries to login, the browser automtically uses the name to try and login. Of course people can change it, but a lot dont and i have had a lot of failed logins.
For example
I register asemail: [email protected]
name: david walker
password: ******I then go to login, and it automatically displays david walker in the email login box
I think the name is set as the default username login incorrectly when it should be email?
Thanks
David Walker
eCentury LtdOctober 19, 2016 at 5:17 pm #287894Hi,
i wasn’t able to reproduce this at all. I asked to the developers to double check and see if they can.
Thanks
October 19, 2016 at 5:24 pm #287917Hi
Its easier to replicate if you use chrome, as it asks you if you want to save it and it says for the above
do you want google chrome to save your password for this site:
david walker *******
So it is using david walker and not [email protected] as the default username to login
October 19, 2016 at 5:39 pm #287945Hi David,
I think chrome uses the name of the field which is “log” which is the same as the default wp login box, so maybe its auto filling from that, in any case both email or user name can be used in our form.

October 19, 2016 at 5:51 pm #287958Hi Stiofan
Username and email work, but name does not and that is what google and firefox seem to save to login
So with the above example it is defaulting to my name ‘david walker’ and trying to login with this?
I seem to have a long list of failed logins and i can see that they are trying to use their name. Wondered why this was happening for a few weeks but now i can see why

October 19, 2016 at 6:33 pm #287985Hi
So this is what happens, I register the
email:
name:
password:
confirm password:like this
Google asks me if i want to save this user, (this is even worse in firefox as it automatically saves), it asks me like this
Note it save the name and not the email.I click save and then logout, and login, and it displays this
This is not going to work as David Walker 778 is what i entered for name, and not email / username. It brings back an error login. Because the David Walker 778 is in front of the normal textfield description ’email’ then people are not correcting the browser mistake to enter their email instead of name? So it leads to people not logging in.
Is their a way to remove the name field, or change it to username on the frontpage
So instead of
email:
name:
password:
confirm password:it is
email:
USERNAME:
password:
confirm password:Does this make more sense now?
Thanks

October 21, 2016 at 2:05 pm #289222Hi David,
Thank you for the detailed explanation, i managed to replicate this issue and as a result in the next version the user/email fields will be swapped position to comply.
Thanks,
Stiofan
