Ok so I imported my old database tables after deleting the original and all the custom fields are there but when I go to create a new listing none of my custom fields save with the profile.
At the moment Im thinking I may as well just start from fresh with geodirectory and save all my custom field data to a text file and start the tedious process of adding them all back in again. All the custom fields show on add new listing but none of them save to that listing.
February 25, 2019 at 1:23 pm #471028If someone can explain the best way for me to import custom fields if anything goes wrong with geodirectory. I heard that If I export a listing with all custom fields selected then if I ever have to re-install geodirectory I can import that listing and it will re-create all the custom fields for me based on that listing, is this correct ? Otherwise there seems to not be a way to backup custom fields only categories and listings.
Thanks
RikiFebruary 25, 2019 at 7:47 pm #471086CPT Custom Fields must be created through the backend UI, and they must be created before values can be imported into them.
February 25, 2019 at 9:55 pm #471118Thanks, so the only way to backup you can get of the CPT Custom Fields is by backing up the MYSQL tables ? the issue is for me that when I import those custom fields from MYSQL backup they no longer work for some reason.
The issue for me is I have about 50 custom fields so its a nightmare to manualy add them all back in.February 26, 2019 at 2:12 am #471134Custom fields would be backed up with a full database backup, yes.
February 28, 2019 at 12:47 pm #471667So no other way to backup Custom Fields other than MYSQL ? Just double checking, im hoping to get this all working well, I have many custom fields. Am debating if I should move to another wordpress directory plugin, shame as everything else with geodirectory is spot on!
March 1, 2019 at 6:19 am #471815Hello,
Import fields directly in database may break things if not imported properly. When field is created it also creates entry in some other tables like CPT detail table. So for now best way is to create field from CPT Settings > Fields.
We have a plan to import/export custom fields in future, we are working to implement things based on priority. Import/export custom fields is also a import feature, but we have other things to implement which are more important.
Our main goal in GeoDirectory v2 is to make it more simpler and customer friendly and easy to customize. Thanks,
KiranMarch 6, 2019 at 1:10 pm #472927Thankyou for that
Sadly I have had to uninstall and finish with geodirectory due to the too many issues I had, If I was to continue I need to be able to back up those custom fields as to loose all that data again would drive me insane! Perhaps when you guys have implimented those functions I will buy Geodirectory again. Shame I can’t get a refund but I know that is not in the terms 🙂Riki
March 6, 2019 at 1:18 pm #472935Hello Riki,
Your old database in GeoDirectory v1? If so we have already v1 to v2 data conversion in GeoDirectory v2. This data conversion converts old data(like custom fields, listings, categories, tags etc) for v2.
Let us know.

March 6, 2019 at 8:05 pm #473115The old database that worked was V2 geo not V1. Somehow tables disapeared possibly when I upgraded the beta V2 to a newer beta v2, check back in this post. It was a very strange issue as only some tables remained, the rest of my website had no troubles at all! just lost most geodirectory tables.
The only real guess I have as to what happened is that because im running multisite, I deleted another website and maybe it confused it with the main site running geo, but even that does not seem possible as what can cause tables to disapear ? I had not uninstalled geodirectory at all and I certainly had not ticked delete tables on uninstall, so overall very odd

Yes Im sure it was site wide so I can choose which sites have the plugin installed.
The backup I had from 25th Dec had been restored (geodirectory tables only) when I tried this backup there were problems one of the main issues was that the custom fields section no longer worked properly, you could not save custom fields properly and any new listings made lost those custom fields upon saving and publishing the listing.March 8, 2019 at 3:51 am #473490This reply has been marked as private. -
