Big grey bar above map, map isn’t filling screen, ugly, see image.

The more i populate my site the more I can see how things respond like this map when it’s showing the listings in countries on both sides of the world.

That all depends on screen size, and the sizing of your two sections on the Listings page.
It seems you are using a narrower map than the theme default, so the Google map is resized to fit the width, but because the map window is fairly narrow, there is nothing to display top and bottom.

    Thanks

my screen size, if i understand you correctly, is and was 100%. I’m using dual monitors and both show it with a gray space. I can adjust screen size (alt and mouse roll) and have to go over 110% to remove the gray space and everything else falls apart. So, at the best screen size, 100%, I see a gray bar/the background is showing.

I don’t recall changing the map. Where would I change the map? I checked GD/Design/Map and all looks well, see attached.

    Jeff,

this is the “end of the world” of the google map. If you click on “+” of the map it will fill the grey area. You can prevent this if you select a different zoom level.

    Best,
    Dirk

My mistake, from the image it looked like you had a smaller right hand window (frame) for the map than the default, but looking at the site itself I can see that is not dependent the case.

But only Google can change what happens below and above the map if the window is not wide enough, or too high, to display the map without showing the end of the world as Dirk calls it 🙂

    Thanks Guust and Dirk,

Ideally the map would be centered/in the middle, not flush at the bottom, and the background would be the same color blue, that would really do the trick! Does anyone know how to accomplish this?

Crazy, I can actually click and drag the map up to the top and cover the entire background. For some reason the map is too far down!

I think that is because your listings are in the northern hemisphere, and the map centers on the listings.
If your listings would be in the southern hemisphere, then the grey bit would be down the bottom.

I’ll get the developers to comment on the background color, it may come from Google.

Its just the end of the world i’m afraid….

It happens with any Google map, try zooming out here: https://developers.google.com/maps/documentation/javascript/custom-markers
