    Hi,

I would like to hide the map in the add listing page. So I’ve deactivated the map in Places -> Settings -> Custom Fields -> List of fields that will appear on add new Places listing form -> Address (see: screenshot #01) but on the add listing page the map ist still showing (see: screenshot #02).

Did I make samething wrong or is it a bug?

    Best regards
    Ralf

If you do not want addresses and maps for your listings, go to
Places > Settings > General tab > Show Advanced > Disable physical location? > YES
You will need the Location Manager activated.

If you only want to hide the map from the Add Listing page, use this CSS:

    #geodir_address_map_row {display: none;}

    Thanks

    Hi Guust,

the thing is that I need physical location for adding the address. Hiding the map is not sufficient, because then the site still connects to external sources. This doesn’t comply with GDPR.
With the developer tools -> Sources you can see that a connection to openstreetmap.org is established.

To fulfill GDPR requirements I need the site not to connect to external sources that are not neccessary.

    Thanks

I doubt very much that is a GDPR problem because then heaps of sites like news sites etc would be in big trouble.
A connection to OSM is not a privacy breach of anyone.

If you want to totally remove the connection to OSM, then you will need this setting:
Places > Settings > General tab > Show Advanced > Disable physical location? > YES

You can then create your own SELECT fields for regions etc if you like.

    Thanks

When I disable physical location the address field is also disabled, right? A SELECT field does not replace the address field with auto complete functionality.

I need the address field with auto complete function (see screenshot) but I don’t want the map to establish connections.

Is it possible to filter the map in the functions.php?

For autocomplete you will have to connect to the OSM or Google API.
So that would not help either.
    Thanks

Ah, right. Then it’s a neccessary connection that has to be accepted by the user in the data protection regulations.
Can you tell me what data the Geodirectory auto complete function sends to OSM server? Does it send the ip address?

It does not send anything of your users.
It may send the IP address of your site, but nothing of your users.
