Alright, I’ve done some digging but I was wondering if there were better solutions to the following issues:
- The near me needs to be defaulted to ON. Nothing should need to be clicked, just by default the site should ask for the location sharing and boom, nearby results. Is this possible?
- We’ve updated the prices and payments accordingly, however when looking at a listing within Places, the new pricing is not displayed in the Place Package Settings. Is there a solution for this?
Any help with these two initial issues would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!
November 19, 2015 at 9:40 am #608341. Activate the Advanced Search addon, you will find the settings there.
2. Can you post your URL and WP admin details in a private reply so we can have a look at your settings.

GoDaddy managed WP hosting is not compatible with GD, you will need to move to a normal server:

And there are more topics too, just search for GoDaddy.
You can just ask GoDaddy to move to one of their VPS if you like.November 19, 2015 at 10:28 pm #60926Hi,
about the GeoLocation not working, I have to ask to the developers to have a look.
i can’t find the issue. Settings are correct however the pop up asking tothe user if he wants to be geolocated never appears when it should.
For the second problem, you have updated the price, but not the description in : “Title to be display while add listing”
Thanks for your patience,
November 19, 2015 at 10:29 pm #60927Well, no need for the developers apparently, I didn’t notice that, thanks Guust!

I believe Hostpapa is reselling Godaddy hosting plans.
In any case, Godaddy or Hostpapa, that managed plan with integrated cache will not work.
You’ll need to move to a VPS.
Thanks
December 2, 2015 at 4:08 pm #62243Hi all.
The offending cache plugin has been commented out, but still no change.
Are you able to take another look and see if something else is not playing well with Geo Directory?
Thanks!
December 2, 2015 at 7:36 pm #62309Hi,
it doesn’t seem like you were moved into a normal hosting server.
Pls see image attached.
You should ask them to move you to a normal VPS.
Let us know,
Thanks
December 3, 2015 at 8:11 pm #62485Hi Paolo!
The actual plug in file for the caching has been disabled, but yes, it does still appear in the menu. The GoDaddy settings are also unavailable, but still show up.
Theoretically those annoying little tendrils should be gone (but behind the scenes).
What should I be looking for to test if the caching is still somehow working?
Thanks!
December 3, 2015 at 9:43 pm #62503hi,
we are not talking about a caching plugin for wordpress here, but a server side cache system. If it was disabled, GeoLocation should start working as well, however GoDaddy caching system cannot be disabled as far as I know. You really need to move to another hosting plan.
Thanks
December 4, 2015 at 2:03 pm #62560I did get a hold of GoDaddy and they can move the site to a “plain” cPanel server. However, the development site hosting on HostPapa is a plain cPanel install – hence my thinking something else is wrong apart from this server side caching (which does not exist, from what tech support has told me) on the HostPapa system.
Will doing so solve these issues? The cost is negligibly, so doing so shouldn’t be an issue.
Thanks!
December 4, 2015 at 6:43 pm #62602HI,
to be honest with you, I would move to a more performant solution. GoDaddy isn’t exactly my 1st choice for hosting (never used them, never will).
I never heard about HostPapa before you opened this topic. I wouldn’t be comfortable in a server where they tell me cache is disabled, but I have a flush cache button at the top of my wp dashboard.
When asked, we suggest CloudWays, please read here for more info about our take on server requirements:
