Near Search Text not changing in search set up

I have changed the text in the “gd search” tab under design > search
The text should read as “Near what location:”

I have tested this from two various work stations an cleared the history using google chrome browser. The held for a few seconds and then reverted back to default text “user defined”.

That is because you have geolocation set up, so it changes to User Defined, meaning that the browser has selected the location.
Click on the compass and untick “Near Me”.
