Hi,
I am not clear on how many programmers are available on this forum to do custom work. But anyone interested, please respond. I do have programming knowledge, but not in wordpress and GeoDirectory. I am getting stuck on certain portion of my project, so I would appreciate some help to speed things up. The site I am building is a directory of places where one can find live music, and it is rather local, one province in Canada.
I think GeoDir is a great plugin, but it doesn’t exactly match what my client wants. One main missing feature is related to the home page map behavior.
Here are a couples of points:
1) One lacking feature is that, geodir does not support regions (the steps go from states/provinces to cities). I would need a level in between, as some other members has requested. Ex. Orange County is a region of California, which in turns countains a few cities.
QUESTION : I actually have a workaround for this, but not sure it is feasible. I could create a custom-post-type for all regions I am interested to cover, there aren’t that many for now, many 20 regions only (Quebec, Canada only). But if I want to expend in the future, will I hit a dead end using this approach?
2) Very important! I was told by the staff that the home map receives only PLACES “Title” and “categories” information. I would like to add two filtering criterias:
i) TAGS which are already present in geodir, but they are not passed to the map-object, so no filtering is posible on those.
ii) I created a custom field in my project which specifies a date for the “next musical event” in a PLACE. I need to be able to filter out places that do not have any events in a user-defined range of dates.
Anyway, I don’t want to describe the whole project here, but just like to get feedback from interested programmers. I can provide privatally a more detailed spec with image grabs and of course, the site access.
Thanks
