No GD-Home Page

    I have a Home page that I created and had unticked the setting under GD > Design for “Set geodirectory home page as home”. I’ve recently updated the software and see this is deprecated, so I selected my home page (named home), but the GD Home page now displays instead of the home page I created. Looking at other threads it looks like there should be a “GD Home” page but I don’t see one. I went to GD Tools and it says there *is* a GD Home page, so I’m confused. I expected there would be my home page, named “Home” in the dropdown menu and another named “GD Home” but that isn’t the case. If I want to build my own home page, how do I do it?

    AT GD > Permalinks > GD Home Page > choose the Location page, the same as at “Location page”.
    Then at WP Settings > Reading > choose your custom WP page as your static home page.

    That’s the problem: there is no option for GD Home Page under GD > Permalinks. I’ve attached a screenshot but I can’t capture the whole pull down menu. As you can see there is “Home” which is the page I created, but no “GD Home Page”.

    At GD > Permalinks > GD Home Page > choose the Location page, NOT the GD Home page.

    Hi,

    there is no need to set the location page as GD home as long as in Settings > Reading you set a different page as the home page.

    Hi,

    if you assign your custom home page as GD Home in GD Permalinks, you are instructing the plugin to use that page as the directory home page.

    To have a different custom home page, leave GD Home as GD home is GD Permalinks and select your custom home ONLY in Settings > Reading.

    Once again, the problem is that I do not have an option “GD Home” in the pulldown menu under GD > Permalinks > GD Home or under Settings > Reading. One clearly does exist because it shows up on your page here: https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/basic-installation/#home

    But again, I do not see an option “GD Home” in my installation.

    That’s probably because you deleted it.

    In that case you can go to GD tools >> “GD Pages Check” and recreate it (I did it for you).

    You had your custom home also selected for the location page, so that was a problem too.

    Now everything should be set correctly.

    Well, thank you. FYI, I ran GD Tools > GD Pages Check before I even posted, and the GD Home Page was listed as ok but obviously not visible. I don’t know why your running it worked, when it didn’t for me! Maybe a cache issue with WPEngine?

    In any case, it is all working now and it sure makes more sense when I can actually see the page and page choice! Thanks again.
