I was wondering id there was a preference for build GD, I am looking at using Divi and was wondering if I would be better using widgets on pages or shortcodes? I am happy either way, just wondered if one or the other is more, say, flexible / configurable / easy to customise. Any thoughts greatly appreciated.

We do not have a preference or a recommendation, and though we have made some examples in the past with Beaver Builder that was because they have a free version. We like to make our demos with free versions where possible.

If you have any layout issues with GD templates, just write back here and we will do our best to help you.

Builders cannot be used on any of the template pages with GDV1. They can be used on the template pages with GDV2. GDV1 overwrites all content area in the template pages and in some cases can conflict with content in the content area. V2 is prepared for builder content in the content area.

    Thank Alex,
I am looking at my plugins they all appear to be version 1.x.x, in my downloads area they are all 2.x.x Should I replace them all before starting in Divi?
I am guessing their is no problem with the already imported listings if I do need to upgrade.

You can use Divi with V1 or V2, it is just that with V1 Divi cannot be used in the content areas of the template ages.

    About working with V2:

You should be able to see both 1.x and 2.x versions in your account downloads area. For each plugin the 1.x is listed first, then the 2.x.

Please see this page for details about upgrading a site: https://wpgeodirectory.com/try-geodirectory-v2/

I recommend you create a fresh site using your current theme, use Divi as you will, and install GDV2, then import your categories and listings to test it out.

Thanks for the information Alex, obviously I am slightly nervous about the beta and rc status of the plugins. I am on a fairly tight deadline for this site, am I going to come unstuck using V2?

The upgrade instructions talk about V2 not being ready for production use as it is only a release candidate and only some of the add-ons are V2 ready.

    Yes, that is correct.
