not display subcategories in GD > Popular Post Category – possible ?

i’d like to hide all subcategories in the GD > Popular Posts Categories widget

is this possible?

i might have a ton of subcats and this could flood the homepage

i don’t see any option for this in the widget settings, but there is such an option in the CPT Categories widget
