only 1 category shows on map

I installed the core plugin and populated the dummy data on the site but when I go to view the map it only displays the icons from one category at a time. eg. The dummy data has 2 categories: Attractions and Feature but only the Attractions show on the map even though both categories are selected in the box in the right corner of the map. If I uncheck Attractions I can see the Feature icons on the map but never both. Am I missing something?
