Hi,
We are using GDv2 on our site at https://chargerpoints.co.uk/ and we have set it to use Open Street Maps API.
Since WordPress have updated to v5.2.5 overnight from v5.2.4 the map is no longer showing pins. This may be coincidental but we haven’t edited or added to the site since the update. I can’t find any information that says Open Street Maps is experiencing problems but I am aware that the service is not as robust as Google. I don’t know how to test if the problem is with accessing data from them.
You can see that the map on the homepage is saying it can’t find any results. Also if you “search near me” or go through to a particular listing again the map is not showing results.
We are using Geodirectory v2.0.0.70, GeoDirectory Location Manager v2.0.0.19 and themes we are using Directory Starter v2.0.0.8 with Supreme Directory v2.0.0.8 (we haven’t updated to v2.0.0.9 because I can’t find the changelog to see details), which we further customise with additional css.
Please let me know if you have any pointers.
Thanks and regards
Malcolm

sorry for the trouble. This problem is due to a bug in Ninja Forms.
We will be releasing a hot-fix update to GeoDirectory as soon as possible. This should fix the problem until Ninja Forms can release their own fix.
Please look out for the update and let us know.
December 16, 2019 at 10:51 am #521677Hi Alex,
Great find, thanks. I’ve deactivated Ninja Forms at the moment as we’re not actively using it on that site at the moment, and will reactivate once the fix has been installed.
If you need to test anything please feel free to reactivate Ninja Forms if you need to go into our site again.
Thanks and best regards
Malc

December 18, 2019 at 2:51 pm #522199Hi Alex,
Yes fine with geodirectory v2.0.0.72 on WordPress 5.2.5, but I upgraded to geodirectory v2.0.0.73 and then I get the error with logged out user on bubble maps.
Perhaps your 5.3.1 fix may have introduced a similar problem for 5.2.X?
I have rolled back geodirectory to v2.0.0.72 as we haven’t checked all plugins with 5.3.1.
If you want to access our site to see the results please do – and thanks, we have our fix with 2.0.0.72.
Best regards
Malc
December 18, 2019 at 7:22 pm #522242Hello!
When are you planning to upgrade to 5.3.1?
December 19, 2019 at 9:42 am #522339Hi,
No fixed timescale as yet, but over the next 3 weeks or so
December 19, 2019 at 7:37 pm #522431OK, sounds good.
We have release a couple of updates, but they are for the current WP version.
December 20, 2019 at 9:22 pm #522630Hi Alex,
OK we’ve updated to WP 5.3.2, hoping it would fix another problem we’ve encountered when still on 5.2.5 but it hasn’t. We’ve also installed GD v2.0.0.74
Apologies if I have something I’ve overlooked in the settings but it seems location search isn’t working?
From our homepage at https://chargerpoints.co.uk/ the search near me seems to work OK, but scroll down to the search input form and start typing a location (eg “Harpenden”), when you select the name from the autocomplete fields it doesn’t find anything. If however you type in and ignore the autocomplete then it is OK.
Sorry to bring more trouble for you, but I guess you’d rather know – and apologies again if it’s something we’ve mucked up in settings, or it’s a plugin causing a clash.
On that note quickly we deactivated Ninja Forms, but that didn’t help…
Thanks
Malc

If you mean the Near search field, the IN location searches will search ONLY within the location from the database.
If you submit a text near search, you will sometimes need to specify region and or country to make sure the appropriate place is found, because that kind of query is sent to Google for lat lon.
For locations in the database, like cities, the latlon is stored in the database.
December 21, 2019 at 8:29 pm #522713Hi Alex,
Yes sorry if I’m not being clear, so hopefully the attached images will help you see what I’m doing and the results.
I think I am referring to the Near field, and it is not returning results from the database that correspond to the location offered in the dropdown list.
So step 1 I start typing “Willen” in the near field on the homepage search box at https://chargerpoints.co.uk. Step 2 I select from the list and click search. Step 3 shows the result which is in Northampton. If I enter the details in full (Step 4) and then click search, I get results from Willen – Step 5.
If I understand correctly, the Step 4 & 5 search is sent to Google, but Steps 1 to 3 are dealing with the database? I think when we first set up the site with GDv2.0.0.65 the dropdown process was returning correct results, either that or we didn’t have enough entries in the database to tell that the results were incorrect.
Hope this helps understand what we’re experiencing.
Thanks and best regards
Malcolm
