Place Custom Fields – description and also linefeed

    In Geo > Place Settings > Custom Fields, I am working on clarification of description for folks who are entering the information.

    Really I have two different questions.

    1. My Address field has Front End title of Blank (i.e., nothing) and Admin Title of Address.

    However, in the Add Place screen, this results in the description prior to the input becoming “Post_Address.”

    If in Place Settings, I change the Front End title to Address, the Add Place screen shows a description in the above situation of: Address.

    I chose the blank because in detail and listing, I don’t WANT the little home icon and the word Address.

    How should I handle this?

    2. In the same area of Place Settings, I am changing front end DESCRIPTION so the user knows to put in http:// or https:// BEFORE they get an error message (that always irritates people!)

    Here’s what I’m trying to say…but I want to put a carriage return or linefeed where I’ve shown <RIGHT HERE> in the line below.

    How can I insert a linefeed here?

    Hoped-for description:

    You can enter your business or listing website.<RIGHT HERE>Include http:// or https:// in front of the website — whichever is appropriate.

    1. Just add this CSS:

    .post_address .geodir-i-location {display: none;}

    2. That can only be done using the language files. See images.

    Okay, not ready for ULTIMATE to-do list, but trying to do this.

    I have changed other things with PoEdit, so have some experience with it.

    I changed the Website Description translation per the attached. (First Image – PoEdit)

    It doesn’t show. (2nd Image – Premium Package – FrontEnd)

    I have another attached image of entry under Geo>Place Settings (only mine is called Business). (3rd Image – BackEnd)

    I tried to delete the Geo>Place Settings entry, thinking the .PO string only showed if MY suggestion in Geo>Place frontend description was blank.

    Still not seeing it.

    Obviously, your screen shot SHOWED you had done the action, so it worked.

    Any idea what I should be doing?

    If you overwrite the standard text in the backend, then that takes precedence over the language file.
    So if you want to use the language file, change the backend back to the original string and the translation should work.

    You were right…again!

    Another part of my problem was that I had cleared the browser cache, but not GD Booster.

    Quick and not critical question. I have added two additional social media sources – LinkedIn and Instagram.

    I have used the facility in the plugin itself to add a frontend description…and it works fine.

    IS there a way to add a string to the .PO and use that string (which would allow html)? It would just look more like the other social media descriptions that way.

    This is NOT critical, just curious whether that capability — in addition to the other rich capabilities of GeoDirectory — is available.

    That ‘may’ work but it is not recommended.

    You can add classes in the custom field settings, and then style them to match the other fields.
