"Place" Post Type

I read another thread that said it was easier to just rename the Place post type instead of trying to delete it and creating a new one

The problem is, I cannot change it. It says “The new post type system name ( max. 17 characters ). Lower-case characters and underscores only. Min 2 letters. Once added the post type system name cannot be changed”

So what is the solution here? Either how do I rename Place to something else or remove it completely?

Hi,

Place is the default CPT and cannot be removed, if you don’t need it just don’t use it and it will not appear anywhere.

You can rename everything about it like name and slug, but you can’t change the Custom Post Type prefix (gd_place).

Here I renamed it to “Attractions” http://wpgeo.directory/

The only places where you’ll read gd_place are the add listing form in the URL: http://wpgeo.directory/add-listing/?listing_type=gd_place

and again in the URL of search realted to that CPT: http://wpgeo.directory/?geodir_search=1&stype=gd_place&s=+&snear=&sgd_placecategory[]=&sgeo_lat=&sgeo_lon=

Everywhere else in the front end it will show Attractions.
