Hi not used GeoDir for a few months, all my sites have updated to latest version.

Whenever I open a PLACE eg: /place the page opens in the editor as /place-1 the url is still /place until I publish the revision when it changes to /place-1

    Any ideas whats causing this?

    Hello!

When I make a tag, the url is like mysite.com/places/tags/center/

Is it the same for you?

Surely everyone would include a place tag the same as the place name?

Actually not, almost nobody does (never seen anyone before). It is redundant

As far as the slugs works, that is WordPress not GeoDirectory.

It’ll do the same if you create a post and tag with the same title.

    Thanks

    Hi,

that is how WordPress work. Unless you create the place 1st and the tag second and later add it to the place, the tag is created while creating the place so when the place is saved there is already an identical slug in the database and WordPress has no choice, but to create the slug with -1.

The point is that creating a tag with the same name as the place/post title is useless and totally redundant.

There is no good reason to do such thing.

    Thanks

    Hi,

we have been developing with WordPress since 9 years and it’s always worked like that.

There is no way we could possibly change this.

    Thanks
