I am creating my site to service one City. Not using the GD locations plugin. I was trying to add a listing that I think is in the County and not in the city limits and I received the error “please choose an address in the city” message.

    How do I fix this?

Note: I added the Location plugin and it seems to have broken the listing detail page links. I set it up to just this State, and City and didn’t add the city to the url.

Note: I have the city name in my domain url so I don’t want to add the city again in the URL.

    1. Can I solve the first issue without using the Location Manager plugin? is so how?

    2. What is the proper setup of the locations manager settings if I am only currently targeting one city/county? Wondering if I missed something else in the setup that would cause the 404’s. Saving the permalinks again didn’t help.

    1. No, you will need the Location Manager.

    2. In the permalinks, choose “Default”.
Then in GD > Settings > Locations > Show Advanced, disable “Archive urls on details page”.

    3. Resetting permalinks requires saving as a different setting first, and then re-saving as the setting you want.

    Thanks

Guust, Thanks. That worked. I had tried everything. I do have another question. My location in the Location Manager shows city-1 as the slug. I am assuming that this is because I had the city previously setup in GD. There doesn’t seem to be a way to change the slug. How can this be edited?

    Hi riobravomedia,

Thanks for your reply. We do have this old article that explains more about this https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/faqs/why-do-my-locations-get-a-1-at-the-end/ and you can still that method to correct it.
