Pre-Set-Up Requirements

Years ago, I set up a directory and it went smoothly. I am trying to set up a new directory and keep getting errors with maps and explanations state potential issues with google api’s, hosting, and/or browser. Is there an overarching set-up document that details necessary settings, accounts, and services needed to run a fully functioning directory? I would like to confirm that I have what I need before continuing to run into errors.

One issue I am having is maps. Does Open Maps allow for multi location places, or do I have to have a paid google api/key? Google maps gives me a “geocode-denied”, and open maps gives me “a browser does not support” error.
