Good day,
Testing the V2 upgrade and after adding a new event listing; – The option to preview opens up a new tab with “Not Found
This is somewhat embarrassing, isn’t it?”Yes, rather embarrassing.
I have re-saved permalinks but the issue remains.
What can be causing this? Admin details not available to 3rd parties unfortunately.
January 9, 2020 at 4:52 pm #524878What settings are you using for permalinks?
Can you share the preview URL that isn’t working?

I notice when trying to access the URL in another browser it says ‘Sorry, you are not allowed to preview drafts.’
…although my ‘Paid Listing Status’ setting is set to ‘Pending Review’
January 10, 2020 at 11:05 am #525022These URLs are only for logged in users.
Are you using the option for “Allow logged out users to add listings”?
January 10, 2020 at 1:35 pm #525047Hi Alex,
You need to register to add an event. Once registered as a user; – you add your event and then at the bottom of the page it says ‘Submit Listing’ and ‘Preview Listing’.
The ‘Preview Listing’ option goes to a 404 Not Found page. If I submit the listing as a user (subscriber privilege) and edit the event and try to preview once more; – It still gives me the not found page.
January 10, 2020 at 1:37 pm #525048… in V1 this worked fine. This is only since the upgrade to V2. Once the listing has been submitted it has to be reviewed by admin but the user used to have access to preview this. Now since I have upgraded to V2; – I am no longer able to preview.
January 10, 2020 at 1:43 pm #525049… I can’t find that setting > ‘Allow logged out users to add listings’
January 10, 2020 at 10:36 pm #525135GD > Settings > General tab > Show Advanced > Allow posting without logging in?
I had no trouble previewing the test listing I submitted when clicking on the “preview listing” from the frontend, after I submitted the listing.
Can you tell us the exact steps so we can recreate the problem?
And give us Super Admin details too in a private reply if we need to have a look. Thanks
January 13, 2020 at 1:36 pm #525343Hi Guust,
Thank you for your reply. This completely baffled me that you were able to preview your listing so I dug deeper into the issue.
I too was now able to preview a listing before submitting it. Once submitted I went into my user profile and the event is listed there. If I then click on the title of that listing; – I get the Not Found 404 error.
…and if I now go and edit that listing (it has not been moderated/published by admin yet); – I see the preview option there again although now I am not able to preview the listing. I get the Not Found error.
I think this is what i did the first time round when I opened the support request.
So there is some kinda bug that does not allow previewing once it has been submitted.
I look forward to your follow up on this. Much appreciate your time> Thanks.
January 13, 2020 at 2:03 pm #525351Only published listings can be viewed when linked from the profile page.
And only users can see the link to the pending listing, which will give a 404 unless the user is an admin.
Users cannot see the draft listings of others in their profile, only the owner of the pending listing can see it, and will get a 404 to let them know that the listing is not published yet.As far as I know that is how it is meant to be, but I will get a developer to confirm.
Thanks
January 13, 2020 at 2:49 pm #525367preview from the add listing page should work, other links may not until published. We would need wp-admin and FTP to debug.

January 13, 2020 at 4:38 pm #525387Hi Guust and Stiofan,
Yes I fully understand that the listing can not be viewed until it is published.
Say you edit your listing after it has been submitted and before it has been published by admin. There is a preview link which opens in a 404.
So the issue is that clicking the preview link after you have submitted it for review; – while editing the listing (in case you forgot to add some info) opens in a 404 not found.
Guust, please try edit your test listing on my site and click on the preview link at the bottom. You will see exactly what I am referring to.
Regards,
DaleJanuary 14, 2020 at 12:09 am #525474I see the issue now.
@ Stiofan
I tested this on my test site and I get the same result:
1. create a normal user account
2. submit a listing that stays pending
3. go to your profile
4. you can edit the listing, but not preview it [i guess because it is already pending unlike first submissions that are not really pending until after submission]@ Dale
We would need wp-admin and FTP to debug. Thanks
January 14, 2020 at 5:15 am #525488Hi Guust,
OK great.
I presume either the ‘preview option’ should vanish after first submission or ‘preview’ rights have to be granted to subscriber with ‘pending’ listing status??
Admin details not available to 3rd parties unfortunately.
I look forward to the outcome of this issue as for now there is a bug and I will have to remove the preview option for my users.
Kind regards,
