    Hello,

fist I tried to upload a csv-file into “GD listings” I got a WordPress-Error, that this file-type is not allowed. After editing the wp-config, this part is working and I can select a csv-file without an error. But now, if I want to import a csv-file (for example the same csv-file I exported before), the importer shows the message “The uploaded file is not a valid csv file. Please try again.” and doesn’t import the file.

    What can I do. Thanks.

    Hi there,

this is a bug in WordPress version 4.7.2. Please install this plugin https://wordpress.org/plugins/disable-real-mime-check/ as a temporary fix. More info here: https://wpgeodirectory.com/support/topic/import-issue/#post-341940

    Hi,

Thanks for the pointer to the “disable-real-mime-check” plugin. I don’t know if it is associated with the WordPress bug or something different, but from my experience today the CSV upload didn’t import all the data correctly. Before WP 4.7.2 I was able to assign an author and a product category before the import. Now no matter what value I set the author and the product are set to the default.

Please let me know if there is anything I can do before WP 4.7.3. I am using GD Version 1.6.17, and have v1.2.9 marker cluster and v1.5.31 location manager in case they have a bearing.

    Thanks

    Malc

    Hi Malc,

We would need to troubleshoot this. Could you please provide a copy of your CSV file and also a temp WP admin credentials so that we could check further? You can post the details here using the private reply option below.

    Hi Malc,

the best way to check how the CSV should look like is to export the CSV of some places that are working correctly.

I just tried to export your listings and there are plenty of errors.

For example, place ID 153, Roberto’s, the apostrophe in the title must have had wrong formatting because it broke the title in 2 and all data was saved in the wrong field. The description for example is in the category field.

You’ll need to correct all this before continuing importing more data. Also make sure you are not importing more errors.

If you are doing coping and pasting of data, make sure to remove all formatiing. Best way to see if everything looks as it should, is to open the CSV file via notepad.

Let us know how it goes,

    Thanks

p.s. next time please open your own topics, eve if the problem is similar of even identical

    Hi,

Thanks for the advice, we seem to be working now. Part of the problem stems from the slashes that became added to the apostrophe, so we were trying alternatives to have the titles and addresses display without the slashes.

One attempt was to input the apostrophe using ASCII ' which worked visually, but I guess the database didn’t like it.

We’re keeping a closer eye on the database, removed all the \’ entries and hopefully getting things back on track.

    Thanks again for your help.
