Question on location page categories display

    Hi, is there a way to display only the active top level or default category icons in the location page featured area? We have lots of categories organized under a number of top level/parent categories and we would like to show only the active top level category icons in the location page. Also wondering if it’s possible to control the ordering of displayed category icons. Thanks in advance.

    Hi Chris,

    Have you tried using this “Show parent categories only” option in the “GD > Popular Post Category” as shown in this screenshot? http://prnt.sc/f69hgm . The category icons are sorted by a number of listings in a category.

    Hi Kor,

    Thanks for the reply. I traced the part in the supreme directory theme that I need to override in the /inc/geodirectory-compatibility.php file. Specifically the line that says:

    echo do_shortcode('[gd_popular_post_category category_limit=5 category_restrict=1]');

    The documentation for gd_popular_post_category only lists category_limit and title as parameters. Would you know the counterpart parameter to set for ‘Show parent categories only’ for the shortcode? And what does ‘category_restrict=1’ do in the above code? Thanks again.

    Ok, found the parameter in geodir_shortcodes.php and set 

    parent_only=1

    still not sure what ‘category_restrict’ does though.
