Random Sort for Featured Listings in Category

Hi,

When visitors currently view listings in a category, Featured listings appear first and then other listings are below. Those featured listings seem to appear in order of latest added. Wondering if the Featured listings can be sorted randomly but still appear above the non-featured listings? Otherwise the longer a customer has been paying for the privilege of being Featured, the further away from the top they get, which seems bad for them.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

That can’t be done for a number of reasons.
You could try adding a widget above and sort it by random but any sort of caching will not play well with that.

Hi,

there is a hook “geodir_filter_widget_listings_orderby” where you can change the sorting. I used it to change from latest added to latest modified. RANDOM sorting is always an issue with caching and I would not use it.

@ray I mean add the popular post widget to the category top section, but this will not limit it to the current category only to the current CPT, but you could clone that widget code and add that functionality.
