    Hi there

I have set several recurring payment packages on a development site and am soon to go live.
All packages are 12 months and payment is taken monthly. I have done some payment testing and wanted to confirm process.

    1. Initially packages are set to ‘pending’ but once approved, do they automatically renew each month or do the need to be ‘re-approved’.

    2. Does client and admin receive automated confirmation and copies of invoice?

    thanks Andy Mulvenna

    1. I guess you mean you created listings in the backend and assigned a recurring package to them.
Because the payment plan is not agreed to from the frontend, there is no contract set up with the payment gateway, and nothing will happen.

Recurring contracts need to be entered into by users from the frontend, for things to work. You cannot do that on a user’s behalf.

    2. If a user agrees to a recurring contract, then they will get confirmation and an invoice for each payment made. Admin will get confirmation that a listing is added and the user has paid the first time, and each time admin will get notification of the monthly payment.

If you create listings for other businesses, best practice is to create a free package and use that for admin added listings, and then use the Claim Listings addon to force business owners to upgrade to your paid packages.

    Thanks

Hi Thanks for getting back. No I didn’t add any listing from the back end. I asked my partner to sign in independently and take a recurring package for real using paypal. That part seems fine.

    My question was:
I have set new listings to be ‘pending’ till the admin approves them – so, in a recurring package, does the approval just happen once when the listing commences? Or after each payments is received.

Basically all packages pay monthly for 12 months and I just want to check that after it’s set does the package just keep renewing for the next 11 payments?

Hope that makes sense – cheers and thanks for your prompt reply.

    Andy

EDITED: some corrections made after checking with the developers.

I have set new listings to be ‘pending’ till the admin approves them – so, in a recurring package, does the approval just happen once when the listing commences? Or after each payments is received.

The listing will be “pending” once submitted, even if no payment is made. Approval happens by admin publishing the listing, so you would have to check if payment was made or not.

A recurring package will keep renewing unless the user cancels the contract at PayPal or does not have sufficient funds in his PayPal account. But normally it just keeps renewing as per your settings.

Just wondering though why you only set to monthly for 12 months. Will it expire after? And will people have to submit a new listing?

I hope that is clearer now. Thanks

Thanks, I set it for 12 months as per client request. She wanted to give clients packages that would run for 1 year and could be paid monthly.

I just wanted to be sure that I (or client) only have to manually publish listings after first payment is made and that listings renewed automatically (each month) for the rest of the year.

    thanks Andy

Yes, that is correct: you only have to manually publish listings after first payment is made and then listings will renew automatically (each month) for the rest of the year.

    Thanks

Great thanks. We’re about to go live with a directory site that will cover Lancashire and North West England. Thanks for all help so far. Sure I’ll be in touch with ‘teething troubles’ ha ha.

Would be good to get your feedback once live too.

    kind regards Andy
