Registration Form Placeholder Fallback

    There should be a field label fallback for the placeholder tag on older browsers, at least for the user login and registration forms. The fields currently appear blank with no labels on older browsers. As a result, users assume that the registration fields are “email” and “password” (since that’s more common) and they end up with their password in the user_fname field.

    I didn’t think this would be an issue, but this has happened on about 8 of 113 new user accounts (~7%) created in the past month. IMO, that’s enough to warrant a fix.

    I have added a patch for old browsers, it will be in the next version of core.
