Hi All
Is there a way for the plugin (paid or premium module) to enable it to remember my entered location? So using the demo https://wpgeo.directory/supreme-directory/ and I enter ‘London’ in the ‘NEAR’ Field. Is there a way for it to remember my choice or location I entered? So if I go back to home location is already filled, or if i leave the site and come back 2 weeks later it still has London entered in the ‘near’ field?
Many Thanks
August 2, 2017 at 4:47 pm #389464Hi,
there is an option to keep the location if you go back to home, but it will still be reset if you navigate on any non GeoDirectory page. For example if you visit the blog.
The session in any case is reset when you close your browser window, so if you come back 2 weeks later, the location won’t be remembered.
Thank you,
August 2, 2017 at 6:55 pm #389502Thanks for the reply! Where can I find that setting?
Is there a way I can override it to keep the session active? Assume it’s done via a cookie? Or could one be created to keep the session alive? Aiming to do something similar to yell.
August 2, 2017 at 9:44 pm #389524Hi,
if you have any add-ons installed, please login with the account that purchased them to ask for support and especially ask in the correct forum.
The core plugin doesn’t provide such features.
Thanks
August 2, 2017 at 11:12 pm #389532No not purchased. If you can tell me where to enable the home page to remember location or what add on Id require from there I might be able to modify it for my needs from that point. Thanks for all the help.
August 3, 2017 at 6:03 pm #389648that’s an option of the Location manager add-on.
Thanks
August 3, 2017 at 8:37 pm #389667All I can see there is to redirect the home to the location page which is not what I’m trying to do, id like the selected or users entered location to ALWAYS be visible / entered into the search field
August 3, 2017 at 8:49 pm #389669Hi Gerry,
if you haven’t purchased the Location Manager you get no support for it and you shouldn’t haven’t installed on your website.
Can you please explain?
Thanks
August 3, 2017 at 11:08 pm #389700I was just looking at the screen shots from the plugin the very first one
https://wpgeodirectory.com/downloads/location-manager/
Options 1. IS what you refer to as the home solution but that reads as a redirect
August 3, 2017 at 11:10 pm #389701All I’m asking if there was a way or if anyone had already done what I require so if you visit yell.com and enter London in the location box for example, it always remembers London as your area no matter where you visit on the site, if you leave or come back that field is always pre filled with London unless you remove the cookie. THATS what I would like to do with wp geo directory 🙂 Hope that makes sense!
August 4, 2017 at 11:19 am #389738The location manager can be set to remember it as a session, which is untill the browser is closed (whole browser not just the tab), it would require a cookie to remember it past closing the browser, which is not available at the moment but would only take a small snippet of code to add.
