Remove Description Profile

    Hi,

    Is there a way to disable (ideally remove) the required description field from the add listing screen (for members). Don’t have the requirement as our directory is very tightly formatted and do not want to offer a free text input option to listing members.

    Hi Ed,

    You cannot remove the listing description, as it is a compulsory field for GD. But please check out this link for a workaround. https://wpgeodirectory.com/support/topic/make-listing-description-optional/#post-55624 .

    Tried that, but

    jQuery(‘#post_desc’).val(‘Description not provided’);</script>

    Still posts “Description not provided” in the listing or whatever the member overwrites. Surely there is a way to hide the description field from listing members. It leaves listings vulnerable to all sorts of junk being posted by members to clutter up the listing display format. Maybe I am missing the purpose. But that free text option for members is lethal.

    Any ideas? Really is a big problem for us.

    Hi Ed,

    Like I’ve mentioned earlier, it is compulsory to have that field. But since the script inserts some text in the description box which fulfills the requirement of the description field. We can try using this custom CSS below to hide that field. Could you give it a try and see if it works?
