Hi.
Before migrating my website: redsalud.com.sv from geodirectory V1 to V2, I want to make sure everything is going well.
For that reason I created a test website whose url is the following: https://wordpress-255377-803281.cloudwaysapps.com/And the first question that comes up is how can I remove the word “Category” from the urls of the categories.
On my current website: redsalud.com.sv the urls of the categories work well, for example: https://redsalud.com.sv/medicos/ginecologos/
But the word “Category” has been automatically added to the test website. For example:
https://wordpress-255377-803281.cloudwaysapps.com/medicos/category/ginecologos/So before migrating the geodirectory website v1 to v2 I want you to explain how I can maintain the urls of the categories if the word “Category” in the url.
I do not want this word, because in my current website it does not have it. And that would make all urls of current categories go to a 404 page and affect SEO.
April 9, 2019 at 2:43 am #479382Have a look at WP Settings > Permalinks.
https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs-v2/geodirectory/settings/permalinks/Thanks
April 10, 2019 at 12:16 am #479689I already read the page that you recommended me. But from what I have understood with the new version of Geodirectory v2 the structure of the url for the archives page and categories can not eliminate that word that I do not want. The word “Category”
Answer me if I’m right?
April 10, 2019 at 12:23 am #479692What do you mean when you say: “When a site converts to V2, GD creates redirects to take users to the new URLs”
April 10, 2019 at 2:39 am #479710Category base is required, so, you are right.
Your old links without category base will ‘still work’ and will redirect to the new permalink structure.
April 10, 2019 at 3:28 am #479720Yes. Redirection works, great.
I have one last question regarding removing words that I do not want:
How do I remove the title from the GD Archive page, so that it does not appear on the front?
I know that it would only be enough to just remove the title from the page in the editor of worpress that achievement. But is that method correct?April 10, 2019 at 2:32 pm #479814Are you using Yoast?
If so we have a fix for that coming in the next update.
If not let us know and provide WP Admin in a private reply so we can take a look at the issue.April 10, 2019 at 7:37 pm #479914This reply has been marked as private.April 10, 2019 at 9:22 pm #479954The new release will have a fix for this, and it should be out tomorrow. Give that a try and let us know if it works for you.

April 14, 2019 at 6:25 pm #480653This reply has been marked as private.April 15, 2019 at 3:10 pm #480871The fix is about Yoast not showing titles.
The URL structure for V2 is changed and it is not always possible to keep the same URLs. Redirects are automatic.April 24, 2019 at 7:10 pm #482643Have you already set the option :
Enable 404 rescue
Enable 404 rescue This will check 404 pages where a GD CPT is identified and try and redirect to the correct url. This should help tell search engines about term or post permalink changes.
