Just noticed after buying the events plugin a while ago and finally getting around to looking into its settings, there is no reoccurring event option, I find this odd as its such a basic feature that I thought it would be in there as standard, did I miss something or is this actually not in the plugin if so it makes it pretty much useless for what I want.
Would of posted this in events section of the forum but I found I don’t have access if I buy the stand alone plugin probably just another reason for the developers to charge for membership I guess :/
August 5, 2014 at 11:05 am #10998For a recurring event, you just choose all the days that the event occurs from the date-picker when you are submitting the event.
August 5, 2014 at 11:06 am #10999You miss the point completely!
Say there is an event on every Friday, are we expecting the user to click every Friday until the end of time?
August 5, 2014 at 11:14 am #11002Yes, that is how the plugin is designed.
August 5, 2014 at 11:23 am #11005wow what a major flaw looks like I will need to code this in myself great time and money waster this is turning into.
August 5, 2014 at 2:20 pm #11024But if u will closely look, u will find a very good feature that u can set different time for recurring events.
Lets say u have recurring event on every saturday but on few of them event occurs on different time or time has changed due to any issue this can easily be managed using this interface. Thanks
August 5, 2014 at 2:27 pm #11025still doesn’t change the fact that for example the girl guides run a weekly meet on a Friday at the same time it means that they have to click each Friday for the rest of time which is completely lacking.
A drop down box which says “reoccurring event:” with the options:
Daily, Weekly, Monthly is far more user friendly than manually clicking every Friday for example.
Do you not see my point?
I am not developing a website for tech savvy people so this plugin is not really saving me any time because 1 I am going to have to implement this feature myself now as well as another feature for opening hours because I can not rely on users to correctly format there own opening hours.
Also you have not updated the events plugin on the themetailors website its still 1.0.2.
August 5, 2014 at 6:35 pm #11058I’ve updated it now.
For the recurring event feature, we have explored most options.
While I totally see your point, it appears that “real cases” recurring events in the majority are not that linear. (every friday forever…)
The 1st UI while in beta was similar to what you want, but it brought up a lot of other issues.
Most users are also asking for options to select: every 3rd friday of the next 3 months, last sunday of every month and similar instances that were not feasible with that interface.
I guess to solve both issue, we could give options to use the “Daily – Weekly – Monthly” interface or th calendar pick.
BTW, if you sync your theme tailors account with your forum account here, you can post in the addon sections for the addons you bought.
Thx
December 29, 2014 at 7:50 pm #25792Hi
I have exactly the same issue as Sam, how can I enter an event that happens every single week at the same time for the whole year?? I can not create tell user to create to do the same process 52 times…. I am using the recurring event feature on geotheme so I was more that surprised when I realised the it is not available on Geodirectory. what are the options? has anything been done since August?
Thanks in advance

December 31, 2014 at 11:31 am #25942Hi guys, we will be revisiting this in the new year.
Thanks,

January 1, 2015 at 5:42 pm #25990Yes, I agree this is a must change item and needs to be addressed.

January 3, 2015 at 7:55 pm #26243Do not get me wrong, the idea of being able to change the time on the events is great and hope it is maintained. But I have about 50 events happening every week so if I browse events I get like 2500 events when in fact there is just 50 different events. Looks very bad on my site and I am a bit stuck because of this. Please add this to your agenda because I guess that I am not the only one impacted by this.
Thanks again
January 12, 2015 at 8:15 pm #27222Hi Stiofan
I assumed you guys are overloaded but has this been addressed yet. Any ideas how long can it take for this feature to be included in the geodirectory event plugin ?
Regards
