    Hi there,

    I’m a very unhappy lady.

After repeated 500 server response errors that started during the night I finally get my host to get into my site and disable plugins so I can investigate.

That’s when I see the lovely ‘big red’ banner for the ‘new update’

So I select ‘im not ready’ and roll to version 1. I have not attempted at any point to install version 2. And I never will.

Despite this I now have a website that is no longer (or appears to be no longer) compatible with the (paid for) Kleo theme, or WP Baker builder. I think Buddypress is not too happy either but I’m still looking into this.

Why were we not informed that you would cause such damage to sites? Why is this a big surprise this morning?

Now I have to waste hours of my time re-building a website that took me months to get right!

My trust and appreciation for this plugin is completely shattered.

I am currently looking for an alternative.

Can you please advise your refund policy?

Hi and sorry to hear about your experience,

I assume your hosting provider has an auto update feature for plugins. You should disable that ASAP.

We sent several newsletters and published various blog posts about this new update. We even made a video showing a full conversion.

Here you can find them all: https://wpgeodirectory.com/tag/v2/

I verified and all newsletter were sent to the email associated to your account.

We did all we could to advise everyone about what was coming (We started in January 2018 publishing blog posts about it).

If you have a back up from before the upgrade, you should be able to revert quite easily.

This is our refund policy: https://wpgeodirectory.com/refund-policy/

    Thank you

“We sent several newsletters” I never received any notification from you guys about anything, I have checked spam too!

I stayed up all night trying to get a workable website and wake up this morning and its down again.

“We did all we could to advise everyone about what was coming ” Erm I do not believe you did. If you can put a great big banner on my site warning me that the update is available, you can do the same with a message about V2

IMPORTANT: I do not have any auto update at my server.

Can you please let me know which Country you operate from?

Can you provide an original zip of the plugin that I can make a fresh download of (before any changes or big red update notifications were made)?

    Hi Claire,

Firstly, we have no way to force an update of the plugin, you are the 3rd (out of thousands) that i have seen this happend to and in both the other cases it was a hosting “feature” :/

No changes have been made to your site even if GDv2 is installed, there should be an option to downgrade.

If you can provide wp-admin and FTP details i will try to prevent this from updating for you.

We are a global company with staff in almost all continents, however i am based in the UK. Im happy to skype with you to get this resolved ASAP.

All past versions can be installed from the bottom of this page https://wordpress.org/plugins/geodirectory/advanced/

    Thanks,

    Stiofan

    Just FYI,

We have a log of all newsletter sent, with open rate and click through rate. (See attachment).

Being yours a gmail, if they are not in SPAM, I suspect they could be in the Promotions tab.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks

Ok I will provide admin access as soon as I can gain access back to the site, currently all i get are 500 errors. I will post details as soon as I can.

Could Jetpack be the reason my plugin is trying to update?
Although they do not usually I know this is a possible feature.

I have not heard of that being a jetpack feature so i doubt it.
If you can provide wp-admin and FTP details i’ll fix the 500 error.

Correct, it definitely was not jetpack and I have confirmed with server they do not have any auto-update on. I can only imagine that either in my panic I have made some error or something is wrong somehow with the plugin.

Server has confirmed the problem plugin is Geodirectory.

I have now got access back into the site – I could not get into the admin in order to create any login for you.

Its important that I can retain the listing details and hope that you can find solution. Login details to follow.

Currently all Geo plugins are deactivated.

Any other deactivated plugins must remain so as I am deciding whether to continue their use or not.
