    Hi Guys,

First time posting and have searched the forums but need a bit of assistance. FYI I have loved both the original Geodirectory and keen to get into V2 🙂

I have a few errors with searching : I am using a fresh site with V2 beta plugins (including location manager and advanced search) and the V2 supreme theme. All are latest versions. During testing no other plugins were active.

Error I noticed that when BuddyPress Version 3.2.0 is active I cannot use the search feature at all on the front-end. When I click the search icon I am redirected to the homepage. This occurs regardless of if a category is selected, if something is in the “Search for” box, if the near box is filled, or any combination of them. Is this a known issue?

When BuddyPress is deactivated I can sometimes use the search feature but most of the time I still get redirected to the homepage. The times it works is generally when I have entered a near location (although this doesn’t always fix it). The search near radius is set to 150km.

The .gd-adv-search-labels are also not functioning and take me back to the homepage.

If I deactivate advanced search the only issue I find is that the search function doesn’t work from the /location or the homepage featured area search.

I have tried to pin point what exactly is the cause of the redirect but have had no luck. I have also cannot replicate this on your demo site as it seems to work perfectly.

Do you have any suggestions on what to do? Hard to think anything is causing a conflict since all non V2 plugins were deactivated. I also have checked a few other websites (posted on the geodirectory FB group) and some have similar issues.

Side note : I can successfully search by clicking on a tag or category link on the details listing pages but not when using the default search.

Also, Can you point me in the right direction to use CSS to target the listings/search pages. I am trying to remove the map and adjust the layout. I tried page-id-347 (which is the GD Archives page id) but had no luck. I am not the best with CSS or php and with V1 I found most customisation answers I needed on the forums.

Sorry if this should have been posted separately but I figure the CSS question would be easy for you guys.

Thanks in advance and keep up the good work.

Thanks for reporting, I can see this on my test site too. The developers have been alerted and will provide an update here.

    Hi Nathan,

It turns out BuddyPress takeover the slug “search” and there is not much we can do about it; https://buddypress.org/support/topic/why-does-a-page-named-search-redirect-to-members-search/

(If you go write a angry post on their support forums it might make them take note about the issue)

The solution is to change the slug of the search page to something else.

    Thanks,

    Stiofan

    Hello,

you can change the name of the search page to fix this. We can’t do anything about it because it is set within the BP code. You can write to them and let them know if you like.

    Hi Guys,

You can mark this as resolved.

Changing the slug from /search to /browse fixed it up.

I will post my CSS question into a new post.

    Thanks
