I am trying to add some local businesses via manual input and they are service based businesses and do not have a street address. But the street address is Required. How can I change this. When I am looking at the Custom Field settings under the address field I see this text “Address fields are required” but I do NOT see a check box to click or unclick to make it NOT Required.

It is not possible to change that. You can add another CPT for listings with no address, and then disable ‘physical location’ for the CPT in the CPT general settings.

    Alex,

very interesting that you can’t do this in GD. In my other themes I was able to just use the City and State if I had a listing with no address.

It doesn’t make sense to create a second CPT for say Restaurants or Businesses with NO address.

What makes sense is if we can set the street address to NOT be required. Just my thoughts on this….would be nice to have a more user-friendly solution. I am sure that I am NOT the only one with this issue as I have seen this come up in other Directory themes many times.

There are several ‘bulk’ activities having to do with the address and location. Adding exceptions would make those operations brittle.

Even Google gives us the ability to use a service area for a GMB where the address is NOT displayed…… just saying.

You can certainly hide the address from the frontend, that can be done, but the fields must be filled.

We do plan on adding a service area feature in the future.

    WP is not Google, btw.

WP is not Google… very funny Alex. No kidding. Just saying if they can do it I am sure you can.
