When I try to use the search widget it returns this messages, what to do?
Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in /home4/lele0901/public_html/vitrine.vc/wp-content/plugins/jetpack/modules/widget-visibility/widget-conditions.php on line 230
Fatal error: Cannot unset string offsets in /home4/lele0901/public_html/vitrine.vc/wp-content/plugins/jetpack/modules/widget-visibility/widget-conditions.php on line 243
May 21, 2014 at 6:24 pm #2741Look like it’s a JetPack setting. I’d try to play with JetPack settings to see if you can disable what is throwing that error.
If you don’t find the problem I’d suggest to temporarly disable JetPack while the developers test it with it and make sure we can be 100% compatible.
Thanks
May 22, 2014 at 5:20 pm #2839yeah, disabled it and it worked. are they testing now?
is it posible to disable the LOCAL/EVENT/CPT in the search widget?
May 23, 2014 at 5:38 am #2863Hi,
User can search only one post type at a time, so u can not disable that dropdown.
May 23, 2014 at 2:15 pm #2909Oh ok
And is it possible to change or is it a wordpress thing?
Because it’d be nice to simplify the users lifeMay 23, 2014 at 2:19 pm #2910Hi,
Considering the Geodirectory performance, it has been designed in a way that one post type can be searched at a time. WordPress core does not have any role in it.
Please advise?
May 23, 2014 at 2:43 pm #2912Hi Vikas,
Is it possible to just have one universal search box using a plugin like https://swiftype.com?
In addition, would you mind to style the search widget properly so it will display nicely at the header and sidebars?
May 23, 2014 at 8:01 pm #2929Yeah, I need it to be in the header and sidebar also.
And would be easier for the user to search for everything OR by post type. Also, the search bar will become simpler, with less friction for the user to search and search… Lol
May 26, 2014 at 6:04 am #3016We are working on more flexible templates, so it will be considered too.
Regarding the search, i have already explained that post type selection dropdown will remain there as it is a part of GD performance aspects.
Thanks
June 6, 2014 at 3:20 am #3685hey Vikas, is it possible to add a All search field, so that by default (choise of the admin) it would search all CTP that contains the words searched for?
thanks!! =)
June 6, 2014 at 4:47 am #3686Yeah, an option to use universal search that works with geolocation will be awesome. Users will love it more if they only need a single search box that works with keywords, custom post types and/or location.
If a user searches for “pizza”, listings near him or her shows up. If the user searches for “pizza san diego”, appropriate listings show up as well.
Perhaps GD developers can explore the WP http://www.swiftype.com plugin.
June 6, 2014 at 12:47 pm #3701Hi,
Thanks for ur suggestion but GD has been designed in a way that only one post type can be searched at a time.
U can consider that we are refining the search one level by default. Please advise ?
June 6, 2014 at 4:56 pm #3738Vikas, didnt understant “U can consider that we are refining the search one level by default.” sorry for my english lol
i think that manilaboy and i are saying that thinking on the usability aspect of GD it’d be nice to have the possibility to search automatic in all post types, because it causes a friction on the user side having to select before what he is looking for, instead of only typing a word and getting all results that contain the word.
i dont know why you guys made it this way, problably is because the tech this way is better, i dont know. but i for sure know that thinking in who is using the site, without searching 1 post type a time would be better and we’d apreciate if you could explain why is that yu guys made it this way, maybe we get it and get over it if you do so.
thanks for the good work man, dont mean to bother you, just thinking on my users and getting to a better product together!
