When I enter “New York” , “New Jersey” or any Region or City Name in the “Near field” on the Search Widget the search results act funny it just shows 1 listing when there are more listings in the given city or region..is there a setting im missing? or is it designed to do that?
How can I make it such that if someone enters anything a City Name, Region or a Zip Code the results should show accordingly?

Thank You

/?geodir_search=1&stype=gd_notary&s=+&snear=new+york&sgeo_lat=40.7127837&sgeo_lon=-74.00594130000002I have enabled GD > Advanced Search > Enable Near autocompleter: YES
So visitors can now choose to search NEAR the centre of New York, or choose to search IN New York State or New York City.January 10, 2016 at 6:36 pm #67728The results are still not accurate i think…
Since the Location Page has 2 Entries with Brooklyn and Farmington (New York) under the region New York but when I search “New York” in the Near Field it is not displaying both the Records from the New York State…that is what im finding strange..
Same goes for New Jersey it shows some weird results..there too…
January 10, 2016 at 6:39 pm #67729The same is happening on the ClownDirectory example too
This Page has results (California)
http://clowndirectory.com/clowns/united-states/california/But from the home page if u enter “California” in the Search it will not show u the desired results..
January 11, 2016 at 11:28 am #67792When I search IN New York, I get the 2 listings – see image:
/?geodir_search=1&stype=gd_notary&s=+&snear=&set_location_type=2&set_location_val=1&sgeo_lat=&sgeo_lon=
They are the exact same two listings as at /notary/united-states/new-york/ [which is the main category page for the CPT]
When I search NEAR the centre of New York, I get different listings because the search is restricted to listings within a 40 mile radius from whatever Google considers to be the center of New York. I do not know what Google thinks when you put in “New York”. Google will make up its own mind whether it looks for the center of NY state or NY city. It seems to think you mean NY city because that will give you the same results. See other image which gives the results for NEAR the center of NY city.
January 12, 2016 at 3:54 pm #67994Hey Guust,
Thanks for replying, can u attach the screenshots and also
when u say ur searching
IN New York.. where exactly are u entering the search term “New York”
January 12, 2016 at 5:48 pm #68013Just Type new york in the near field and wait for the autocompleter to serve the suggestions and select New York (City).
Let us know,
Thanks

@paolo
I understand now that it has to wait for autocomplete to get the city or region, is there a way that the auto complete is more faster..it takes time for it to load…is it my Server or is there something we can do for real time auto complete? Also if possible can that Near Field change to a Drop Down where only the Cities, Region which are in the database appear?
January 13, 2016 at 9:36 am #68096The speed of the suggestions is purely server related.
To get the list of locations, add the location switcher to your menu:
GD > Multilocations > Show location switcher in menu
Make sure you first add a menu at GD > design > navigation

what i meant is the Near Field (text box) in the search widget should be a dropdown? is something like that possible?
January 13, 2016 at 6:38 pm #68234Hi,
the near field is a text field. Not a dropdown. Making it a drop down would require a complex customization.
Thanks
