Looks like the search function does not work at all, i ran the latest update last night.
Was having issue before with it that i mentioned in another thread, as it returned way more results than it should have with 2 words queries.
Please let me know what is being done to fix the issues with the search function. A directory without a functioning search bar does not benefit visitors well.
March 10, 2015 at 6:57 pm #33567Hi,
I just retested our demo for example like the one you provided and seems to be working as it should finally.
Example:
Now I can search for 2 words present in a title and the result having those words is appearing 1st, than it shows all other result containing 1 or the other
Inverting words works too: http://wpgeo.directory/?geodir_search=1&stype=gd_hotel&s=hotel+acme&snear=&sgd_hotelcategory%5B%5D=&sgeo_lat=&sgeo_lon=
If it doesn’t work on your website, please provide exmaples with specific description of problem and possibly always wp admin credentials so we can follow up.
This will allow to speed up support and should be clear by now.
Thank you

March 11, 2015 at 4:06 pm #33680That was strange, seems like every time i upgrade plugin it changes something. You doing plugin upgrades every 2 weeks, makes me afraid to do them because never know what will change. no way to know if settings are correct, and did not change after updating plugin.
The search function not only searches the titles for a match, it searches the company descriptions for words too. For example, “blue”, in search will return companies that have blue in their name, and companies without blue in name, but in company description field. not sure if this is the way it was intended.
March 11, 2015 at 5:35 pm #33688Hi Bob,
the update shouldn’t change any of your options (and it doesn’t for the vast majority of our users).
You should update without fear, however I’d suggest to work with a staging website (a perfect copy of your online website).
This way you can update in the staging site without worries that anything could break your live site.
Once you have updated your staging site and are sure that everything works as it should, than you can update without any fear your live website.
This is best practice for anyone developing with open source software.
Thanks
March 12, 2015 at 1:43 am #33764That is not really much of a suggestion. Like I mentioned before, you come out with updates every 2 weeks. And with each update something has gotten crossed, at least for me. The way i have seen that it was not working was by seeing how users responded after updates.
If you have a checklist for me to use to make sure everything functions properly then this might be possible, maybe. Otherwise you are telling me to find a needle in a haystack. and to search when maybe nothing is there. Which is not really a good prospect.
But still, i would very much like a checklist of everything to check so i can see if it is working properly now that you mention it.
