    Hi, when i search for a location with an “umlaut” like ä ö ü – there is a server error.
    Is this a general problem or a special problem at our page?

    It looks like its a server security rule, have you asked your server admin about it?

    ok, just had a call again with my provider. HE now told me that he think that its a general wordpress code problem since our page seems to work with ascii and of course in germany our provider works with utf 8 to handle umlauts. I will check this but in this case it mwans that its not a problem of our provider, but from our wordpress installation

    It happens with a static .txt file which never initialises WP or even PHP, the only two things it could be are a .htaccess rule or a server rule. If you had a WP security plugin installed it might have edited the .htaccess file to add some sort of rule like this.

    ok thanks, we solved the issue. It happens because of a setting of our security plugin. “not english signs” were forbidden.
    Now it works.
