    Hello,

I’m using GeoDirectory with the Advanced Search add-on. I’m having some problems:

    1. When I type in “Newcastle” it takes me to Melbourne. When I type in “Newcastle NSW” it works. Is there a way to have it work without the state?
    2. The “Near” text box isn’t auto completing.
    3. When I type in a postcode, the search doesn’t return anything, even if I have a place in that postcode.
    4. I currently have the categories being displayed in a drop down as part of the search options. Is it possible to have this as a multi-select drop down or checkboxes?

    Thanks, Brendan

    Hi Brendan,

Do you think you can share WP temp admin access to your site so we can take a better look? You can post the details here using the private reply option below.

    Thanks!

    Hi Brendan,

I’ll try to answer your questions accordingly.

#1 I’ve just tested the search form on your Website using this “Newcastle” keyword and it works fine. Check out this screenshot http://prntscr.com/dand76

#2 Unfortunately, there is no autocomplete for “Near Me”

#3 I’ve tried searching for “5031” and since geo search can’t decide whether it’s a post code or street number, it will work if you search with “Australia 5031”

#4 Unfortunately, this isn’t something that’s currently possible.

    Thanks!

    Hi Kor,

Your testing of the Newcastle keyword is within the wrong search field, we mean if someone searches simply ‘Newcastle’ in the near field it comes up with no results even though there are results, they shouldn’t have to put in Newcastle NSW for this to work.

As an alternative is there a way we can automatically place “Australia” at the end of the near search field but in the backend code so the user doesn’t have to do this and then they can just enter the suburb / state / postcode and it will work?

    Hi,

please go to GeoDirectory >> General >> Search >> Add location specific text to (Near) search for Google

    and add Australia.

    That should do it.

Let us know how it goes,

    Thanks
