Hi, there.
I recently set up a fresh install, but I don’t seem to be able to set a default location, either by typing in the city name or by adding the lat. and long. as shown in your documentation. If you could have a look at what’s going on, I’d appreciate it. I’ll attach login info as a reply to this. Thanks!
Amie

Please advise on what the fix is for this, no matter what default location I set and no matter the configuration in the locations tab I still get an overview of the entire map.
June 24, 2014 at 12:33 am #5804Hi celestinaadams,
you are running 1.1.3 with the old location manager 1.0.4. You need to Update the location manager to 1.0.5 to work with the latest version of GD.
yoursite.com/wp-admin/admin.php?page=geodirectory&tab=auto_update_fields please enter your correct credentials here. username should be celestinaadams and password the one used to access this forum.
Than go to Dashboard >> Updates and update the location manager.
Once all updated it should work as expected.
@stever, I guess you have the same problem, but I can’t tell unless I see your website and possibly your back end, for which I’d need credentials. You can send them in a private reply.
Thx
June 24, 2014 at 3:29 pm #5909Hi, Paolo.
Thanks for getting back to me. I went in and updated, but unfortunately that doesn’t seem to have fixed the problem. Under the single location I have added, there is no map showing, and I’m still getting the error that the location can’t be found from the lat. and long. (and I can’t try to erase the lat. and long. that’s there). Please take another look when you get a chance and see if there’s something else I’m missing.
Thank you.June 24, 2014 at 9:40 pm #5971This reply has been marked as private.June 25, 2014 at 12:15 am #5991Hi Stever,
Did you add the listing via CSV? CSV upload doesn’t validate lat and long and addresses. It would time out in 99.9% of servers.
I think you uploaded the places with wrong Lat and Long coordinates.
For the listing iBud, the address was in California, but the map located it in Montreal. I edited the post clicked on set address on map and lat and long were fixed.
If you click on any pin on the map when the default location is selected, you will notice that all those listing have Denver addresses, but wrong lat and long coordinates.
Hope my explanation is clear.
Thx
June 25, 2014 at 12:33 am #5993Hi celestinaadams,
I fixed your problem. It took me a while to figure it out. When creating your 1st location, you added city name, region, selected country and added coordinates in a wrong format (I think you got them from wikipedia or something) that were forcing google API to send an error as response to any query.
The only way to unblock it was to insert the right coordinates and save.
There is no need to copy lat and long from anywhere when adding a location. After adding city name, region and selecting country, clicking on the “Set on map” button does the trick and automatically fetch the lat and long coordinates from google maps API.
I’ll ask Vikas to add format validation on this fields.
Thanks
June 25, 2014 at 6:21 pm #6169Hi, Paolo.
Thanks so much for your help. Yes, I had added the lat. and long. earlier, when it said it couldn’t find the town on the map (which was probably related to needing to update). And then I couldn’t seem to access the field to erase and start over. Nevertheless, I am grateful for your assistance, and hopefully I won’t need any more help from here. 🙂A.
