I currently display all Place categories on the Location, here:
https://romanroadlondon.com/location/
To see the listings under a specific Category the user must leave the page and drill down to a Category page eg https://romanroadlondon.com/place/type/fitness/.
However once on the category page the user, categories are no longer visible and there is no way to go back to the Location page.
Option 1
Can the Categories be used as filter in a drop down box so that Users can filter the results on the same page rather than be taken to a new page.Option 2
Can I add a shortcode to the Location template that will create a link back to Location page for Users? In the meantime, I’ve manaully added something in the Category description field but this is clumsy and liable to break: https://romanroadlondon.com/place/type/health-fitness/
Thanks

April 3, 2020 at 12:20 pm #538234Option 1: sorry that is not possible.
Option 2: You need to add a GD Categories shortcode to the GD Archive page.
And I suggest you add the Location Switch to the menu. Thanks
April 3, 2020 at 1:08 pm #538253Hi, I’ve already got GD Categories shortcode on GD Archive Page and, while this displays categories on /location/ page it doesn’t feed this through to the Category Page so users can’t search for alternative category without clicking the back arrow on their browser. This seems like poor UX.
I’ve added the Location Switcher to see what you meant but this is not relevant for my website as it only uses one Location for all listings.
Still wondering how users can search categories without having to click back on browser…
Thanks

April 3, 2020 at 2:16 pm #538290Hi Guust, I tried to replicate this for my Events Add-on.
I want Events to act differently to the Places listing so I created my own Archives (Event) page.
However the GD_categories shortcode doesn’t feed through to Category level pages like the one you did for Place Archive page. Is this because it’s not an official GD page?
Anyway around this?

April 3, 2020 at 11:19 pm #538363Go to Events > Settings > General tab > Show Advanced > Template Page Settings > Archive page > Edit, and add the GD CAtegories block. Adjust the settings as required.
FIXED, please check: https://romanroadlondon.com/events/Thanks
