Show linked events on place

I’m using the following shortcode to try to show the linked events on a “place” page, but when events are reoccurring, it seems it grabs the wrong event date (a date in the past). Can you tell me what I’m doing wrong or how I can fix this?

The shortcode I have:
[gd_linked_posts title=”Events” link_type=”from” post_type=”gd_event” event_type=”upcoming” sort_by=”event_dates_asc” title_tag=”h3″ layout=”gridview_onehalf” post_limit=”4″ view_all_link=”1″]

Note – I do not have this active on my site right now because of the error, but can activate it for a member of the support team to see it.
