i have turned off the requirement for “Address” field in my custom post type…
still get this same error (x/x not imported because missing location… )

i have some listings that will have physical address… but many are only city because they are teaching locations, and the actual venue address will vary from class to class or whatever

i really really need this to work

    any suggestions.

You need to set up a separate CPT, and then go to
GD > General > General tab > Select CPT to disable physical location
and select the new CPT there.
Then you will be able to add location-less listings.

so the option is with or without … can’t have both options in one CPT??

and i don’t want NO location info – i just don’t necessarily want a street address required.
i want CITY and COUNTRY for all of them

You cannot have listings with and without an address in the same CPT, correct.

Every listing with an address needs a full address, but you can use “Business Name” instead of “15 Smith Street” for the street address line.

    hm… so i tried that tip…
    still getting this error

    Total 98 item(s) found.
98 / 98 item(s) could not be added due to blank/invalid address(city, region, country, latitude, longitude).
90 / 98 item(s) could not be added due to blank title/invalid post type.

Used the same “address” (business name) as suggested for all
not sure about the post type thing – for some reason my csv is registering 98 rows when there are only 8 rows of data for this testing…

realizing it’s asking for info that simply doesn’t exist… lat & long??? how am i supposed to get that for every address? i will eventually have 1250 of them…
and not all have a “region”… so it seems like maybe i cannot use this product if it has that little flexibility. Am i missing something?

    any other suggestions?

Did you have a look at the link i posted earlier:
    https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/core-export/#mandatory

All listings you want to show on a map, need a city, region and country. That is how Google maps work (and other maps too).
If you want to add them using the CSV upload, you need lat and lng.
If a listing does not have a region for example, your visitors will never find it.

To get lat and lng in bulk, check out this:

ok i guess we can’t use google maps after all then.

too bad. but, i should have done more research.

Yes, you can use Google maps, but it just is not possible for a map to display something if it does not know where it is. So if you want to use the map, you need to tell it the coordinates, there’s just no other way.
If you want a generic location, it still needs coordinates, even if it for the main street.
Add a few listings in the backend, by dragging the marker to a generic location, then change the street address, and save the listing. Then export your CSV, you’ll see how it works.
