    Hello:
I submitted this previously and forgot to title the post, sorry, this is an exact repeat.

I’m operating under the principle that if I go to GD>Import&Export, download the listings (Places) database into Excel, save it, rename it, make changes, open file in Open Office and save as a CSV file, import that back into GD>Import&Export, the changes will appear when I go to Places and click on place (business) name.
I’m not seeing that, last night I followed the above and effected more than 150 changes, not one was retained upon importing back to GD. Specifically the expire dates were all changed to expire in 10 years, everyone expires today. See the attached image for new text appearing through my place listings. Don’t know where this comes from or why?
Worst of all I don’t know whether this is an issue with WordPress or GD as I am using the latest version of both with all updates current.
    Questions:
    1. New text (see image) is appearing throughout place listings
    2. Cannot change the order of appearance on the home page to reflect the business I want to show up first to highlight them for sales purposes.
    3. Changed 182 places from “Draft” to “Publish” still showing “draft”
    4. Adjusted all zip codes to reflect 5 digit location. Not showing all 5 digits up when I edit the Place listing in GD, the leading “0” zero is missing. For example the actual zip is 01201, GD shows it as 1201, yet there was a preceding zero in the database when uploaded. What happened to the “0”
    5. Some place listings have a map showing up on the detail page, right sidebar 1/.2 wa down, others have a circle spinning without loading and others do not.
    6. Expire dates, when I change them individually the changes remain, when changed on the database they do not
    7. If you review Fairview, Excel image on line 7 in yellow, note that the database indicates an expiration date of 12/31/2030, yet in Fairview_2, the expiration date is 10/22/2016.
    8. I’m not receiving any error messages from any programs; therefore, I am perplexed as to what is causing the issue.
On the Hinata page this gable text is showing up across the places listings.
All of these issues are interconnected. Answering just one does not solve the remainder, any resolution you can offer is appreciated.

    Hi,

please provide a link and admin credentials, plus a copy of the modified CSV file.

Also remember that you should never be using excel to manipulate a CSV file.

    Let us know,

    Thanks

    Hi,

that is the problem. You MUST forget about Excel. It adds all sort of things and auto formatting on his own.

Please try to only work with open office and you will see that this kind of problems will not appear.

The strange characters are in each file description of the CSV you attached and 99.9% excel is responsible for it.

    Thanks

    Paolo:
    Excellent!

Thank you for the suggestion and observations, I’ve been experimenting and there are still some minor issues with the CSV file, they are manageable. I’ve downloaded and uploaded several times and each one seems to improve the situation and the pages are starting to shape up.

    Thanks again!
