Good day,
We are looking at deploying a website for a small city with GeoDirectory as part of the main feature set. The website is running WordPress 3.9.2 with Enfold as the theme. The website has a lot of widgets that were built to handle navigation, each linked to menus. In other words, nothing too dramatic or complicated.
As we were about to hit the directory phase, we installed the plug-in with intent to use the Enfold pack to bind it to the theme and then a few of your extras, but we encountered a ripple of sorts. Upon installation and activation, all of our widgets seemed to get messed up. At first, we could not understand what the issue was, but after going through and one-by-one looking at what happened upon activation, it seems as if GD wants to assign pre-configured widgets upon activation. When that happens, it seems to slide the widget contents of each of our widgets down, making each out of sync with their menus. It truly is a rather strange phenomenon, but after spending much time trying to find any other explanation, I wanted to bring it to your attention and see if you might have any ideas, suggestion, etc. We really want to use this plug-in and have hopes of deploying it to other cities in the future.
Thank you again for what looks to be a wonderful addition. It was what we were after from the beginning and look forward to being able to use it and let end-users benefit.
October 15, 2014 at 8:20 pm #18513Hi,
GeoDirectory doesn’t assign pre-configured widgets upon activation, it just creates it’s widgets areas.
When adding dummy data some widgets are assigned to various GD widget areas, but our plugin shouldn’t move your widgets in any way.
I wasn’t able to reproduce this on my enfold test site. Can you please provide a URL and wp admin credentials of a website where we can see this happening?
Thanks

I had a quick look at this and I can’t find a quick fix.
I need to report it to Stiofan and the development team, we will keep you posted. Please keep those admin credentials active until advised. Stiofan will look into this probably tomorrow morning (uk time)
Thanks,
October 15, 2014 at 9:17 pm #18527BTW, I suspect the problem comes from the 10 “Inactive Sidebar (not used)” at the bottom of your widgets page.
Even though they are empty, this message appears:
This sidebar is no longer available and does not show anywhere on your site. Remove each of the widgets below to fully remove this inactive sidebar.
GD could only trigger the error, without being the culprit…

Let us know,

OK this is a Enfold issue, though the support blames this on a wordpress limitation http://www.kriesi.at/support/topic/toppanel-plugin-messed-up-widgets-widget-areas-in-enfold/
That is not true, if you don’t name the widget area then it will be defaulted to a number but you could just give it a name see the array of sidebars:
... [sidebar-6] => Array ( [0] => text-5 ) [sidebar-7] => Array ( [0] => text-3 ) [geodir_home_top] => Array ( ) [sidebar-9] => Array ( [0] => lym_ib_widget-5 [1] => categories-2 ) ...
The only solution is to rearrange the widgets after GD activation or drag them to the inactive area and then put them back after activation.
