subcategories in permalinks and breadcrumb

    Hi,

    My directory site uses subcategories to better structure the listings. However i noticed that the subcategories are not showing up in both the url and breadcrumb. Is this normal behavior or am I doing something wrong?

    So for example, i would like to see the following for the url and breadcrumb:

    http://mysite.com/places/parentcategory/subcategory/listing

    Home > Places > Parent Category > Sub Category > Listing

    However i see:

    http://mysite.com/places/parentcategory/listing

    Home > Places > Parent Category > Listing

    Hi,

    you can have 1 category in the listing URL and breadcrumb and that will be the category set as default.

    You can’t have both the parent and subcategory.

    Ok… I don’t mind too much about the url. But for the breadcrumb it seems a bit confusing to not have the ‘full path’ there. Thanks for the info though! I will try to add a custom breadcrumb in my functions.php then.

    Is there a way to control which category is chosen as the ‘default category’ for a listing? It seems like this is standard the first parent category…

    Could someone point me to the code where the default category is set for a listing?

    Hi Chris,

    if you are using the Ajax Chain select option to select categories while adding a listing, you have a radio button to select the default category.
