Suggest Edit Functionality

    Hi Folks

    A directory no matter how many features it has, is only as good as the the data in it. I am just wondering does your plugin have the “Suggest Edit” Functionality. This can be seen on Facebook and they do it quite well. See attachments. This means any user visiting your website can suggest an edit to either an empty field or a field with incorrect data.

    If this does not exist this would be a fantastic new feature, or you could create a new plugin for this.

    You could notify the admins by :

    Having a new area under Places and call it “Suggested edits” When you click into the listing you would see a split screen of the original listing ?( say to the left ) and the edited field.( say to the right ) This way you can easily see the edited field and the old field. And you would have an approve button to update the field.

    We don’t have that right now but we are considering it for down the road and appreciate your sharing your ideas.

    We have seen members do two different things in the meantime.

    1. Report listings – Use Ninja Forms to make a new form that is using the GD Contact Form template, but remove the email to listing owner action and just send to the site admin.

    2. Suggest edit – Leave in the option to send to listing owner, but CC the site admin/editor-team with corrections.

    In either case you can customize the form fields as you like.

    These are simple to implement, and don’t come with the overhead of managing revisions or merging changes or a custom UI that needs to adapt to custom fields in each CPT. They are manual, but, they are possible now.

    Hi Alex

    Thanks a million, i hope you guys add this as i think it’s a really important directory feature. I don’t really want to start building a workaround, i appreciate it may be not hugely complicated but as you guys can appreciate we have lots of other changes to do as well so i will wait until its built.

    There is a plugin out there that is getting there but not 100% usable,

    Ok thanks, i will wait for you guys to add it. I think its a really important feature request, hopefully it will be done soon 🙂

    There is a wordpress plugin called Revisionary. Maybe you could look and chat to those guys.
