In testing, it seems that the user can “add” as many tags as they want to their listing.
When it appears on the frontend, it does restrict to the quantity specified in the package…believe it takes the first n# per the settings. Then if further trying to add, it seems to “push” the others off in place of the ones added later.
In looking at tags that were selected but don’t appear, the listing doesn’t show up under those tags….good.
The issue of course is that, unlike the description, there is no limiting factor or message even that pops up as the user is adding tags.
At the very least, it would be helpful if a message showed at Tags entry:
Package is limited to n tags. Only the first n tags selected will be used.
Or something to that effect. General text can be configured on the backend, but any mention to number of tags would also be manually edited, which would be less ideal and harder to manage changes cleanly.
Also, on related note:
It looks like tags are now limited to a quantity, though I think in the past/V1 it was by character count.
a) it would be helpful to have that further specified in the backend. Currently it just says “Tag Limit” and the tooltip just says “Leave blank or 0 to allow unlimited tags.” Probably just nit-picky as I remembered it being a character limit, not a quantity limit.
b) one potential drawback to a tag limit without some kind of character limit (either in total or for individual tags) is the spam potential:
