Hi,
I’m working on the en-US core language file and I’ve come across this source text in POEdit:
Tags are short keywords, with no space within.(eg: tag1, tag2, tag3) Up to 40 characters only.
I have saved a translation but it doesn’t work. All of my other translations worked perfectly with this file but for some odd reason the above line won’t translate! I’ve cleared cache, refreshed and everything but it won’t show. I have the Payments add-on and I see the character limit is controlled by the price package so I also searched the payments add-on language file just in case it was duplicated in there. Can’t find the translation in there either.
Pretty puzzled!
Any ideas?
Thanks
November 14, 2014 at 11:24 pm #21587I am pretty sure that would be in the Payment addon PO file, but it will be not be as displayed on the front end because it needs to adjust for the amount of characters allowed for the package.
So look for the beginning of the string only and let us know if it worked.November 16, 2014 at 11:07 am #21656Hi Guust,
Didn’t work.
It’s in the geodirectory-en_US.po file
Here is the source text exactly
Tags are short keywords, with no space within.(eg: tag1, tag2, tag3) Up to 40 characters only.
I’ve tried a few different translations but nothing else seems to work. It always shows the source text.
Stumped!
Thanks 🙂
November 16, 2014 at 11:30 pm #21676I flagged this for Stiofan. I cannot find it in either language files.
The string you copied would work I guess but notif you have the payment addon activated.November 17, 2014 at 1:45 pm #21718I believe this is in the payment manager as it changes the tag limit so changes the wording…

November 17, 2014 at 2:44 pm #21723Under GD > Prices and Payments > Prices > Edit
I have Apply tags limit? set to no.
But on the Add Listing page I still have this text:
Tags are short keywords, with no space within.(eg: tag1, tag2, tag3) Up to 40 characters only for this package.
So I’m still confused
There should be no text about any tag limit in the first place AND I’m still not sure why the .mo translation is not working.
The only place I have found the text so far is in the core en_US.po file but as mentioned before, translating it has no effect.
November 17, 2014 at 2:52 pm #21724If price manager is instaleld it takes over, the translation should be in the .po file as
Tags are short keywords, with no space within.(eg: tag1, tag2, tag3) Up to %d characters only for this package.if it’s not there you might have to download the addon and open the .po file and click update (i know it was missing from a older package)

November 17, 2014 at 3:31 pm #21730Thanks, that solved it! I had to download and update the .po as you said before the string appeared. It’s there now and the translation works OK.
I’m still not sure why there’s the character limit when I have the limit set to no. For some reason it’s still there.
November 17, 2014 at 4:56 pm #21737I can confirm this is a bug and happens in our demo too.
I’ve added a task for the developer to fix it.
Thanks for spotting it.
November 17, 2014 at 6:05 pm #21745OK, thanks for the help guys. As always the support has been outstanding and I’ll make sure I write a nice review for GD on WP.
You guys have a great product.
Thanks 🙂
December 9, 2014 at 11:47 am #23914Tags limit set to no means that the price package is not limiting the tags but the standard 40 char limit is still applied. Sorry for the confusion.
Thanks,
Stiofan
