    Hi there!
Based on the docs the plugin should work with any WP Theme.

Heres’ my problem though. I am trying to use a WP Theme, but basically all the design for the listings, the detail page, etc. comes from the plugin, so it doesn’t override the design.

Am I missing something here? Do I have to adjust my settings?

Your theme comes with its own styling, and GD creates some of your content.
On a webpage every element usually has some styling, and your theme designer cannot build in the styling for every plugin people might use.
So normal plugin practice is to add its own styling, that the user (you) then can adjust to suit your website.
That is the same for any other plugin you might be using.
Similarly, you can re-style your theme.

This article might give you some styling hints: http://docs.wpgeodirectory.com/customizing-your-style/

I am already working on customizing the design. I wanted to make sure that I didn’t miss something.
One more question. If I use a theme that is a directory theme and then adjust the design will it cause functionality problems? Due to the fact that I am already using your plugin for the directory? Do you have any experience on this?

That will depend on the theme. If it uses the Google API then you most likely will get a conflict, because that should only be used once per page.
What would be the benefit to you to use a directory theme? Unlikely you will be using the functionalities of 2 directories at the same time?

You are right I won’t. I will be using only GB for the directory.
I am trying to define the best way to deal with this. I have the directory for the functionalities I need and I have a directory theme that has the design I want.
I obviously have to have a theme activated and that’s the part I am trying to decide.
Should I use the directory theme and have the GB templates added or should I use the GD Framework and make all changes there?
Perhaps, I am overthinking it, but I tend to prefer to try to locate any issues ahead, so I don’t have to make major changes afterwards.

Personally I like simple themes. Themes that have lots of functionalities only slow things down. Less is more when it comes to designing your site, and all functionalities can be added by plugins, which you should minimise as well.

The looks of a theme is very much styling of the elements every theme uses. All themes use a header, footer, sidebars etc.
There are plenty of GDF sites you would not recognise as a GDF site once people change colors and fonts etc.

You can change themes down the track, there will be some minor adjustments required like resetting menus and widgets. But you are not locked in.

    The decision is yours 🙂
