Hi, I’ve recently noticed that my TTFB is twice or sometimes even thrice as big than on your demo supreme theme website.
Right now it’s around 1,5 -2 seconds on my site; and on your demo it’s less than 1 second. The question is why my TTFB might be so big?
The server is Digital Ocean’s 1gb. Let’s Encrypt SSL installed.
Server’s not overloaded.Plugins installed besides 10 GD plugins:
Akismet
Yoast Seo
Facebook LoginBut even when last 3 are deactivated the TTFB is still big.
Thank you.
July 8, 2016 at 6:46 pm #224124Hi,
that demo is running on a server like this: https://www.hetzner.de/en/hosting/produkte_rootserver/ex40
However our other demos : http://wordpressmu-3822-8567-17899.cloudwaysapps.com/try-geodirectory/?preview
Are running on a Digital Ocean’s 1gb through cloudways. There are 4 websites on multistie, most of our themes add-ons installed and TTFB is 384ms.
I suspect the problem is in the server config…
Let us know if this helps.
Thanks
July 8, 2016 at 6:51 pm #224135Hi, Paolo,
Can you suggest anything that could be done to improve TTFB in my case?July 8, 2016 at 7:00 pm #224138As I said, if Cloudaways using the exact same server has a TTFB that is a fraction of yours, it means that whoever configured that server didn’t do the best possible job.
I’m no server admin, reason why I look for solutions like cloudways. If I were in you I’d consider moving to a better solution or have a pro look into your server config. I don’t really know what is your expertise on that field, mine is very basic…
Thanks
July 8, 2016 at 7:11 pm #224142I got you. I just thought that since Geodirectory installs most of its demos on Cloudways, the guys who have set up your servers already know everything that could be done and that they could also share their server settings with us, who don’t know much about this.
July 8, 2016 at 7:14 pm #224145Hi,
there is no special config made on their side. We never ever had to contact them once for support.
We subscribed just like any other customer and built our demos there. We only have 1 digital ocean instance with 1 gb of ram with them.
I don’t think they are willing to share their server config image with anyone, that’s what they sell after all.
Thanks
July 9, 2016 at 8:36 pm #224858Hi, Paolo, you see this is the reason why I’m trying to understand the high number of my TTFB, since I’m running the same server with the same Cloudways provider with the same plugins and same themes you do. So I guess it’s normal to expect the same results.
May I ask you what version of PHP your cloudways servers are running and if you use MaxCDN on your demos?
Thank you.
July 10, 2016 at 12:22 am #224895You said you are using digital ocean, not cloudways. Cloudways provides digital ocean servers, properly configured, I don’t know who did the configuration of you digital ocean server.
If the server is poorly configured, it is normal to get poor performances.
Just move to Cloudways and your problems will be solved.
Thanks
July 10, 2016 at 4:26 am #224924Sorry Paolo, there was a mistake on my side, I do actually use Cloudways all this time. I didn’t know, that Digital Ocean provides its own service apart from being the privider of Cloudways.
This is why Im telling you that I have the same setup, but different result. I do have the same server setup as you.July 10, 2016 at 6:09 am #224990If you use CloudFlare your TTFB will be higher, but the total load time for the page will be less. Cloudflare has a blog post about it on their web site. It is just a pity the Google focus so much on TTFB, when it is only one factor.
July 11, 2016 at 4:00 pm #225595Hi Roman,
if you are using Cloudways too, the only other thing that could slow down your server could be the theme, what theme are you using?
If the theme is one of ours too, I’d contact Cloudways support and ask:
Why even though I have the same server as they have for their demo and less plugins installed, my TTFB is 5 times what they have?
Just passed them our demo link so they know which server to compare yours to : wordpressmu-3822-8567-17899.cloudwaysapps.com/try-geodirectory/
They should be able to give you a better answer than I can.
Let us know how you went.
Thanks
July 12, 2016 at 5:37 am #225873Hi, Paolo,
I’m using GD Supreme Theme.
I contacted Cloudways support 3 times since I started this thread and the only thing they did is increased my PHP memory limit and said that I should use CDN to improve TTFB and they cannot help me, even when I asked them to compare two website. I still write to them, but there is not hope. Their guys from support simply cannot do much and don’t know much. Unfortunately some of them don’t even know what TTFB is.Today I’ve tried disabling GD Booster and the TTFB decreased 2-3 times (0.4s-0.6s). Can there be some incompatibility with GDBooster and PHP 7.0 or may be some other database problem with the core elements of Geodirectory?
Thanks.
July 12, 2016 at 1:44 pm #226020Hi Roman,
TTFB seems to be slightly better but still not great, can you please provide cloudways login and can you sign up for a free test account for Max CDN and pass the login details too.
Thanks,
Stiofan
