Hi,
I’m trying to fix some issues with the Post titles. At first, when the entry title was too long, it passed trough and behind the sidebar of the detail page. I fixed it setting the max-width: 99%.
Now, it seems that Post title has a limited word or character count: as you can see in the attached pics, the title has been chopped, both in the home page and the detail page.
I couldn’t find any CSS modification to solve this problem.
I understand it’s advisable to cut the title on the home page (adding the three dots “…”) but in the detail page it’s not ok.Any advise?
Thanks,
gianniNovember 19, 2014 at 11:26 pm #21971Can you send us the URL of that page? That is the only way to tweak the CSS, if we can see the CSS.
And have a look at this one: https://wpgeodirectory.com/support/topic/text-frame/November 19, 2014 at 11:32 pm #21972Hi Guust,
I did try to check with the inspector, and even red the frame topic, but it seems more a limit in the word count, cause the title is chopped in the middle of the frame (or 2nd line). This is the detail page: you can see that the url shows the full title.
Thx,

Does your CSS inspector show the changes on the site, you might have to refresh your CSS?November 20, 2014 at 12:01 am #21976Hi Guust,
it’s not exactly correct, as the title stopped at “Evaluación (…) abuso infantil y violencia bas“… while the real title is:Evaluación del Proyecto “Prevención y medidas de protección frente al abuso infantil y violencia basada en Género“.
The URL has the full title:
http://wp2.dominicanasolidaria.org/vacantes/dominican-republic/distrito-nacional/santo-domingo/consultorias/evaluacion-del-proyecto-prevencion-y-medidas-de-proteccion-frente-al-abuso-infantil-y-violencia-basada-en-genero/… and in the back-end, the listing title is fully displayed (see attached pic).
I’ve no idea why the entry-title interrupts like that on the front-end.
Thx,

I’ll flag this for Stiofan, there indeed seems to be a word limit or character limit to the display; it is not just CSS, because the code does not show the full title either.
It seems to be a character limit, which is actually a good idea I think, but the submission form does not restrict a long title, it just truncates it.
I added a test here: http://goldroo.net/accommodation/guesthouses/one-two-three-four-five-six-seven-eight-nine-ten-eleven-twelve-thirteen-fourteen-fifteen-sixteen-seventeen/November 20, 2014 at 12:15 am #21980I definitely agree with you about the need of a character limit rule, if the submission form restricts the title length (like the Tag input area) as you pointed out.
Thanks Guust 😉
November 20, 2014 at 9:55 am #22007Yes this seems to be a bug, our custom db has the title limited to 100 chars, i will add this as a bug.
Thanks,
Stiofan
