    Hello

How can we have a drop down menu in “Regions” to include all UK “counties” i.e. “West Sussex” “London” “Kent”

    See here: http://dchtest.co.uk/add-listing

At the moment it looks like you have to add them manually? Surely their is an automated way of doing this ?

Also We want our pricing structure to be:

    Product 1 – Single county = £100

But we want an addon price for extra £25 per additional “county / region” How would you suggest we implement this? So if someone searches for a supplier they can select which county and the sample supplier could be listed in more than one region?

    thanks

    Luke

    Hi,

I’m sorry to disappoint you but neither thing is possible.

We use Google Maps API for regions and you can only use what they return.

Listings can only have 1 address in 1 region, so the second thing is impossible with GeoDirectory, also the payment manager only allow to restrict, categories and images, not custom fields, otherwise I’d have suggested to use a custom field for that.

    Thanks

    Hello

But as standard my site is not picking up the address / region using google api.

If I start to type an address, i don’t get auto complete or suggestions as you normally get with google maps api.

Did you login to my site and check for yourself?

I think something is up / wrong.

    thanks

    Hi,

normally you should only have 1 region field, I see 3 county fields in your website now. Did you customize that form?

Can you please remove all customization made, while we look into it?

    Let us know,

    Thanks

    Hello

We have removed the customisations now/

See now you can go to this link: http://dchtest.co.uk/add-listing/?listing_type=gd_place

I should be able to enter any UK address for google maps api to predict my address.

In particular “county” which is just renamed from “region”. I want this to work with google api to use all UK regions.

    See attached what I see

    thanks

    Hi Luke,

There seems to be a problem with your setup, can you provide an admin login, the one you provided does not seem to be an admin login.

Is your site just limited to the UK?

    Hi Stiofan

At the moment thats not how I want it.

    I went to : http://dchtest.co.uk/add-listing/?listing_type=gd_place

At the moment in the “County” field (which is the same as default “region”) – it does not predict the county you are adding i.e. I went to write “West Sussex” But if I stop half way though typing it with just “west” then in theory I could manually add just “West” which does not exist as a county in England.

They need to be predetermined counties. Not open for people to enter themselves.

I see there is another option to manually add locations. But to manually add those with longitude and latitude for all UK counties would take hours and hours of work. Im assuming that would be done on this page: http://dchtest.co.uk/wp-admin/admin.php?page=geodirectory&tab=managelocation_fields&subtab=geodir_location_manager

But anyway, surely GeoDirectory uses google maps api to predict addresses you enter? As I see that it works for the Address line 1. If I begin to enter an address in address line 1.. i.e. “7 bassett road, london” then it predicts the address and gives me option.

So clearly google maps api is working on your plugin.. but not for region?

Please help as I promised my client your plugin would do all they need and now I have spent 3 weeks full time working on setting this up and theres a big hole in it now not working.

    thanks very much

    Luke

    Hi Luke,

Google api will return country info and city info but it has no dedicated region/state info, you need to make a best guess form what is returned.

If you click the sugested addresses it will fill out the region, if you move the map or the pin it will fill out the info, if not the the region list will just be what is in the DB, and it will allow you to add a new one if missing.

If you want to add them to the DB you could import a CSV with one place from each region and then once imported just delete them, the locations will remain, or you could just add new locations from the backend, but these should fill-up by themselves when people start adding listings.

    Hi Stiofan

But If i click on the address it does not fill out the region for all addresses.

    i.e. try :
    57 Pound lane
    upper beeding
    west sussex
    BN443JB

See on google maps the address: https://www.google.co.uk/maps/place/57+Pound+Ln,+Upper+Beeding,+Steyning+BN44+3JB/@50.8855878,-0.3018543,17z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m5!3m4!1s0x4875971ff32b7aeb:0xfdd2fa6ac1750bdc!8m2!3d50.8855878!4d-0.2996656

But on your plugin , if I start typing “57 Pound lane” it does not find the address.

    Also another address:

    Pilgrims
    Nep town road
    Henfield
    West Sussex
    BN59DY

See it does not appear. If I add the road it appears on map. But how do I add a house name?

See on google maps this address; https://www.google.co.uk/maps/place/Double+Digit+Digital/@50.92755,-0.2773697,17z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m5!3m4!1s0x4875915541985973:0x8a9bd0f3ee175f67!8m2!3d50.92755!4d-0.275181

    thanks

    Hi David,

The first address works for me, there are several pound lanes but if i enter more of the address then click it, it does fillout all the address inputs.

It is a google api, it expects a street address “Please enter listing address. eg. : 230 Vine Street”

    Thanks,

    Stiofan

    Hi again

See my screenshots. I can’t get those addresses to appear.

With “Pound Lane ” it shows several “Pound Lane” in the UK but not the one I want which is in “Upper Beeding, West Sussex”.

Also see when I type “Pilgrims, Nep Town Road” it doesnt identify it.

    Please help!

    Hi Luke,

The google map suggestions is just a helping feature, it is good at finding street names but NOT house names (the address api is not the same as google maps search) , for streets/roads all you have to to is start to narrow it down if its not showing the one you want, see screenshot.
